why is it so necessary to have all the small tiles mesh the way they do?
couldnt you just use single larger bmps(eg 16x16 tiles) & paint them with texture layers seperatly?
take desert, then add road & vegetation then mix the three. in to 1 layer
then add the height values? or in some other order.
then render the details in to single layers.
i had this thought while using TAE to change a map in TA.

this is something that could be implemented in the future, but the original warzone used a static-tile-as-texture system, and it hasn't yet been changed.
