There is always a problem when trying to attack the ennemy with VTOLs : you dont see the army, so you have to wait for your VTOLs to be close enough to it to be able to designate the multiple targets for your bombs. But if you are not fast enough or if your mouses cursor doesn't change into a collimator (which happends sometimes), you loose your VTOLs before they have dropped their bombs .
So my proposition is to allow players to designate a zone to bomb without necessarly spot it with a sensor.
This could be made by selecting the zone just like if we wanted to select units, but with the Ctrl key enabled for example. The VTOLs would so go and bomb all the ennemy units and structures located in this zone.
What do you think about it ?
It doesn't cost anything to be optimistic...

Ability to attack with any weapon in such way (targeting without need to actually see an enemy) could be interesting (I was missing that for artillery), but would really change gameplay and would be unfair, especially if we know exactly where to shoot (like start with full bases or play campaign).
But ability to modify that using mod or mutator could be interesting. Especially if maps would be finally much bigger and bases locations could be random.

Uhm, can't you just set your VTOLs to Circle or Patrol to the location- they'll attack the first thing they see.

Perhaps this would dovetail with a modified command interface (and base set of commands) for combat groups that would be trigger-linked to the Mini-Map.
Something along the lines of this mock-up I did on my phone a while back for commander led groups.
Selecting a combat group on the Mini-Map launches the Command UI with a base set of commands. Press the desired command, designate the geo parameters on the MM, deploy. Effectively controlling multiple combat groups from disparate vectors and velocities in coordinated offenses would be one of the goals.

Could seriously overpower howitzers btw (:
Maybe, but its something that should have been done from the start. Its a viable option during war anyway if you know where your enemy is going, and its the only way to get there.
