Campaign Add-on
If at all possible, I think at some point in time the campaign should either get an addition (dealing with a hostile, non-NEXUS-related threat - A corrupt bunch who are trying to strip-mine the area under the project's control, a sort of adaption of the Red Alert Soviets deciding to expand their borders for more resources, and so on. I actually have a probably hard-to-program three-way slugout between the two mentioned factions in my head).
Basically, after the player kicks Nexus off the planet (this shouldn't be spoilers by now), a fourth faction emerges with a deal they think the Project can't refuse. This faction - the Syndicate - attacks in bribed hordes loyal to whatever money emerges supreme in the post-Collapse word. They are bent on basically sucking Project territory dry of its oil and other resources for a quick buck - you end up having to fight them to keep all the Project's hard work from going to waste. The Syndicate is focused around large hordes of quickly-built, cheap units, and their bodies, while they don't offer much HP and have slightly subpar speed, can be produced in overwhelming numbers very quickly.
Some time after engaging the Syndicate (and beating these corrupt A-holes to a pulp in spite of numbers), another faction called the Commune could emerge, and strike the killing blow on the Syndicate before turning its attention to you. The Commune are... well, Communists. Roughly inspired by the Red Alert Soviets, the Commune makes apt usage of multi-turreted designs, as well as possibly a walker propulsion which is actually faster offroad than on, at the expense of very little health gained. Also, you can get Tesla Coils (ala Red Alert) and perhaps incorporate that Twin Heavy Cannon turret for these guys.
So basically, beating down a Corrupt Corporation, then beating down Dirty Communists. I have no idea how hard this would be to implement.

Re: Campaign Add-on
Cam 4 is dealing with 'kicking Nexus out'. Cam 5 and 6 storylines have yet to be written in stone and all good ideas will be given attention.
If you think you have a good storyline idea that isn't TOO far out of the realm of possibility, by all means write it up and we'll give it a look-see.
This means writing missions, dialogue, and any pertinent information for the map(s). A larger task than one would initially assume. I speak from experience.

Alright, sure. But the Commune and Project crossing paths (in my mind's eye) is reliant on the implementation of naval propulsion. I'll come up with some more complete faction write-ups soon.

NTW is good, you should have a go with that RedShockTrooper.
Cam 4 is still considered "experimental", and with good reason.

Re: Campaign Add-on
I would like to see an entire new add on. That would continue the original.
And it would be something to the effect of:
100 years has passed and humanity (the project) has continued, and has united humanity under one rule.
You start out in a medium base and you research better energy sources (fission, fusion, plasma, then in space, ion, quantum, entropy, and look over the map, when you get a mission.
crashed debre and you have to go check it out.
you find the ship, and as your units are being stolen by nexus units, you lose coms
you have to fight a few waves of nexus units and you track the attacks to the moon.
so you have to research the crashed ship to make a space ship.
you set up some defences in space. go after the moon.
Destroy the lunar bases and find that nexus moved to mars bases at the end of the last war. (used the coms dish to transmit itself to offworld areas, and slowly took over the small robots and crafts left on those planets.)
You have to go to mars and finish off the bases and complexes.
Space ships have the same builds as now, engines, hull, weapons. all upgradable and changeable.
New bodys, new weapons and new modes of travel.
Maps on moon and mars would just be those colors, and space, just make a 100% flat black map.
No need to to try to make a 3d control, the game is good enough to work without it.
I would love to see this continuation of the game.
I love the ability to upgrade weapons, change bodys, and everything.
I know it would be a good amount of work, but if you set new bodys, and new weapons, the maps could be very easy, just set some of the current maps a different color (dull white) and (light red)
Then you could set up research for laser sats that can call planet attacks, and help you out.
Any way this could be done?
Thanks

Re: Campaign Add-on
Possible? Yes. It would be a HELL of a lot of work though.
In the end you'd be better off modding Armada II (the Fleet Operations project has a lot of VERY talented people working on keeping Armada II current, and it really shows). Warzone 2100 is what it is, and it's not really meant for space.
But the idea about the Moon and Mars? Someone else had that idea already, 2002-2003 timeframe iirc, and it had promise.

Shame. It'd make a great sequel. But yes, I can imagine that it would take many compiler errors and new gray hairs to make it happen.

Re: Campaign Add-on
well, the space part of it would not be the main stay, just a short stint to set up defences, and maybe 1 mission on way to moon, and 2 on way to mars.
Then the rest would be on moon and mars surface.
I guess to set up all the graphics for just a littlebit, not as worth it,
But i think that would be a good continuation. just make a "research" point, that starts the next phase.
Like the launch codes in the original, or the " load transport" kind of mission, giving you some time to gather units and finish off any research just before heading to new base sites.
So, you load the transport, (no vtols) and head to lunar missions.
then once you clean that up, you do the same to get to mars.
still a good amount of work, but then you don't have to worry about the creation of space ships, space maps, and space units (structures) and can reuse many maps currently done, just change the color of the dirt, and your good, work on setting up some strong holds, and real heavy bunkers, with advanced weapons.
Doing it that way, would keep down the "i would just bomb the sites from space, if i had all the space gunships" kind of feedback. But least then, its something that would be a nice continuation of the way the game left off.
But so far, i will say, that the additions to the graphics i have seen are great.
Just that i have played the game so many times, i can set up the map 5-8 missions ahead of the game.
So its not all that hard when you know EVERYTHING about what they are going to do.
Love the game though, and love seeing what you guys are doing to make it better.
So, thank you, for keeping it alive.
