Hello, this is my first post since registering. And though I realise 2.3.9 is the final version in the 2.x series I couldn't seem to find anyone reporting this issue so I thought I would because I'm curious as to what I'm actually experiencing here.
Basically what happens is: The AI will build a ridiculous amount of Hardened Sensor Tower's around it's oil derricks and never build anything other than that, like bunkers and lancer towers or even hardpoints. While the AI will build proper defences around it's oil resources on smaller maps, it seems to do this strange behaviour alot on most of my favourite stock 8 player maps.
The strangest thing though is, this is the first time I've seen this happen to me on this particular map. My previous games NEVER had this issue at all both with the stock AI and DyDo AI mod. So I'm not really sure what might of triggered this. It's kind of hit and miss how well the AI will behave for me, though I always play against AI opponents with the slider all the way on "Hard". (It doesn't seem to make them any harder though...)
Here's a image, linked off site to my webserver I hope it's not too dark because I didn't have any units in the field looking at the derrick. (If it is I'll gladly increase the gamma in the image or provide a different image)

The map in question is T1-SK-Concrete, with High Power Levels (I set it to that to see if the reason the AI stopped building units was due to no resources) and Start with No Bases.
As for system information:
OS - Ubuntu 11.10 32-bit Linux 3.0.0-17-generic-pae #30-Ubuntu SMP Thu Mar 8 17:53:35 UTC 2012 i686 athlon i386 GNU/Linux
CPU - AMD Phenom(tm) II X4 810 Processor × 4
RAM - 8GB DDR2
WZ2100 - 2.3.9 fetched from PPA: GetDeb Games (I'm too lazy to build from source... also I am quite new to Linux in general)
Thanks for any consideration, I find the problem really silly though but it does spoil the game heavily when they act this dumb. (Since it's basically free unit experience for every tower destroyed)
I'm not asking for any possible fix to the bug (since I realise 2.3.9 is obsolete and 3.x probably has it fixed) I'm merely curious if anyone actually encountered this before me, and if it is indeed fixed in the 3.x series.
[2.3.9] - Bizzare AI behaviour.

Wow, yeah that's the same exact thing. They encase their oil resources with layers of sensor towers. Except this is happening to me in 2.3.9 as of so far.
Is there anything about large maps that would confuse the AI?
I'm testing 3.1_beta7 and it doesn't seem to be happening for me yet, though I get major FPS drops even with just one AI in the game on 8player maps.
