New Maps

Maps Project has been abandoned due to loss of ideas, and overall laziness.
You may still download the two availible ones, however.

Highway (FINISHED): A long and narrow canyon. 32x250. Bases on north and south ends. A single, two lane road leads from one base to the other. Mountain setting. Various scenery, trees, motels. Provides a great focus on standoff combat, prolonged turtling, and prolonged artillery exchange. 5 oil derricks to begin with on each base, and 10 resources out on the battlefield.
If the map is glitchy, or crashes, try changing your display resolution around until it works.

Archepelego (FINISHED): This is the final version of my earlier map, "Prototype Islands". 4 players. 250x250. This is an island map. 4 large islands for the players, and One center island which provides many resources. 4 starting derricks. 6 additional resources on each player island. many resources scattered on other small islands. resources on the center island. Warning, this is a player ONLY map. Bots and AI will NOT be able to get around, since there is no land access. VTOLs and Hovercrafts are mandatory.

i think it would be cool to have a massive map a fight over the carribean for example where u can have all 3 type of propulsions but not just one and we could also implement everything everyone wanted such as helicopters and a navy?

ok - several things. first - do not use capital letters to name your maps. second - do you remember me telling you to go in and change the capital letters in the mapname.wz to lowercase? due to the frigging stupid unix / windows infighting and no frigging standard.
the map editor saves in caps... for some ungodly known reason.

all your map would do is crash... immediate as i clicked on it. >:( >:( >:( and the error messages did not make any sense at all.
this is on the latest nightly build r2440.
i have reported PRIOR to this stupid caps/lowercase bullshtuff before.... is there anyway the devs can put into the code that it will accept any frigging thing caps or lowercase...no matter what frigging os it is?
and yes i am a bit perturbed... >:(

As for map ideas I have one.
How about a map where two players start with different sized bases.
One has a big nice easy to defend base but with almost no oil around it.
The second one has a small patch very hard to defend and he must expand to other patches to make a bigger base but he has a lot of oil around him.
One would have base advantage but not a lot of resources while the other will have hard time with base and defenses but a lot of resources.
The player with the small base would have to try to get the oil around him, while defending as well, attacking the other one would be hard in the beginning since his opponent has an easy to defend base.
The one with the big base will have to rush and annoy the other one, before he starts securing his oil and outproduce/outtech him.
They will both be frantically fighting over the resources near the small base, however the small base player has access to them first.
Should the small base player manage to secure them, he will defeat the big base player by building huge forces with the resources.
Should the big base player manage to hold back the small base player, he will crush him in his weak to defend base.

I took the time to make two different version with one difference. One uses caps, the other doesnt.
They both work on mine.
So I assumed, that the bug is fixed.
I am using the official release 2.0.7
Fixed. Changed to lowercase. it should work now.

ok - i think i may have the solution to the problem.
you need to re-read the tutorials. especially the size of maps that can be built reliably. 64 by 64 up to and including 250.
on even numbers ONLY. 64by64 or 250by250 or 64by250..etc... examples only....
see pic number 1
pics number 2 and 3 are the result of going to a narrower width than 64. this also holds true for the height.
and do not use capitals anywhere in the mapname.wz and keep the mapnames short...

lav, how come your game looks so high res?
and, yes. I know that the map size can only be even, otherwise you get a message saying that its odd.
And, no. I played several multiplayer games with other people on that map so far, and it's okay with everyone. There isn't a single problem at all.
Maybe it's cause i'm using the official 2.0.7 release?

your map width was only 32... it should be 64 at the very least....
i am using the nightly builds.... hopefully will help devs track down problems.
what resolution are you playing at. what gfx card.... what gfx ram / system ram... what processor.
mine is 1280 by 1024 nvidia 6600 gt 128 mb 2 gig system ram 3.4 intel processor.

Thanks, mate.
It was a brilliant idea that popped into my head while going down a long road in a canyon in the Caucausus Mountains in Russia just two weeks back.

Playing on this map will cause a Runtime Error. Somebody please tell me how to fix this.
Did you look at the log file, anything interesting? Does it crash while loading the map?
One thing I can think of is gateway placement. Make sure that all islands that have units pre-placed have at least 1 gateway on them and make sure that the ends of every geteway touch unpassable terrain, like water or cliffs.

actually it was a module problem.... for player 2 ... plus a whole bunch of feature errors.
