Ok so that is what i wanted to hear XD . I know I am conservative, maybe too much. But I prefer that then to overdo it and brake the fun because of an overpowered weapon. The 2.3.7 is pretty fun except for flamers issues.
Germanium wrote: Only for plasmite VTOLs i am still of the opinion that its better to make them slower (and therefore more vulnerable) instead of weaker. End-game-weapons are what they are... overpowered and mean. I know a lot of people will disagree with my idea of plasmite bombs but i hope, too, that we will soon again see other games than plasmite bomb rushs.
Ok.. so after a long talk on IRC with Germanium, he convinced me to slow down even more plasmite instead or reducing the damage. Basicaly that will do the same effect. Speed-20% => AA+25%dmg => 25% less plasmite that reach => 25% less dmg. But that add an interesting twist to it since that goes trough the AA capacity of the opponent. A player with no AA at all at this point will just receive the plain fire from the skies. A player with a decent AA capacity will beneficit from that new 25% dmg reduction and maybe some smart players that premeditate sooner the plasmite bombers attack and defend accordingly will even get more protection.

Also the tactic of going over AA to directly attack buildings will be more dangerous. Bombers will have to destroy more AA before going on.

So tomorrow i'll exchange the 25% dmg reduction for and increase of weight (20-25%). That should do the trick (or at least worth a try). Remember, as Ger said, that plasmite bomber are intended to be an game ending weapon. Players that spend all their money into bomb research and vtols will be rewarded with no more weapons. They take a risk a long time before by going into vtol branch and for that they should get a big chance to succeed. That's why plasmite need to stay a big weapon.

I doubt that you can be too conservative as a balancing man. We like to play the game, correct? Therefore it cannot be that unbalanced and we should be careful with _any_ change - thats also the main reason i always object to a lot of changes ;-)

Still, some areas will need a larger change in order to include the weapons again in actual gameplay (EMP, Nexus Link, Gauss, Pepperpot, etc.). To make those weapons reappear in actual games will most likely - and i am happy if i am wrong - require a larger overhaul (see my post in balance forum). We should pick some of those and test different solutions (if we can come up with more than one) as mods before including them into a new balance or even proposing them to the devs. I am happy to work on any area with some other people (i think 3-5 would be a good team) if some people will volunteer for that too.

And keep in mind: conservative balance is better than totally akward balance. Currently the game is close to stable _and_ close to be balanced ;-)

I've played a few test games with the 2.3.8 mod, and it seemed pretty good to me. Don't think any of the changes will mess up the balance, and particularly the thermal armor earlier is needed :).

Ok so... Zarel came yesterday and we had a good chat. He will be the one that will make the final draft. Everything will be messed out but general tendancies are kept. We'll lose :

*single MG obsoletness
*AA emplacement (my error after all)

So does this mean that the aa flanks are gone? no big deal if they are

hmm no sorry, you misunderstood me. there was a AA emplacement cost reduction in my proposition that will not stay in the finals changes. Just wait the final announcement for the official changes. I'm a bit confused myself for now. ;)

I like all of the balance changes, I may add that something to thermal armor being more effective might help.
