Switching Resolution in Linux

How do you switch resolution in Linux? I checked the previous 'fullscreen' post and adding a switch -1024x768 to warzone2100 did not work. Is there a different method for Linux?

The command for the resolution is:

--viewport WIDTHxHEIGHT
