2.3.5 RC2 has been released

The Warzone 2100 Project staff bring you this 2.3.5 release candidate 2.

Since we had a somewhat critical bug in 2.3.5 rc1, we decided to make a quick 2.3.5 rc2 that squashes the bug.
The plan is, if it is deemed a critical bug, we will do another release ASAP. If it falls within the normal category, then we will do a release when we feel this version has been tested enough.

We are reimplementing testing builds in order to help us release better builds, we just don't have the manpower to test everything, and true testers are very hard to come by.

We strongly urge everyone to try this 2.3.5 release candidate 2--especially multiplayer users!, and report any and all issues with it.

Please submit all bugs via this link, and follow the directions listed at the link, we need every bit of that information in order to fix bugs!

Downloads will be made available at our usual site:
note: Mac builds will be up as soon as someone can make them--sorry for the delay.
Warzone 2100 file releases on Sourceforge.

Windows build Linux tarball

Thanks again for the bug reports, keep them coming! :3

Changelog is pretty short.
  • Multiplayer:
    • Fix: Player Lobby is updated when it should be updated. (r11586, ticket:2136)
    • Fix: Tech-tree should be fixed (r11588, ticket:2134)
Note, we couldn't do a smaller patch file, since the issue was with the data, that is why you need to download this new build.

O_o 2.3.5_rc1 was the shortest-lived release I've ever seen, even for WZ2100!

Yeah, well, if it didn't have a serious bug in it, then we wouldn't have done another release so quickly. :3

As I said, we are really lacking good testers who want to test builds for us...so we do releases this way from now on, until we find a fix for this. :stressed:

Tank killers and these Sun*$#@!@ (how are they called? didn't memorize it yet XD) are working now, just tested. gj! (:
I also would like to humbly ask for a website tech tree update, or maybe rather a parallel tech tree for the testing versions.

By the way, what exactly you mean here by testing? Is just downloading the trunk and posting bugs found in it called testing, and is it even useful to post a bug against the trunk for a non-dev who's not aware of what other devs are doing?

I see yet another problem here:

Which is a sign that things are going well imho :3

It's not just trunk, 2.3.5RC2 requires testing as well.

I think it's better to have useless bug reports (because someone is already working on a fix) than no reports at all. :hmm:

Okay so now we got the sunburst - nifty unguided rapid-fire AA rocket.

But umm...I don't see the flak cannon.

Curious what advantages does it have over the former cyclone?

Are you sure you researched the pre-requisites? ---> viewtopic.php?f=1&t=6341&p=68695#p68695

Or maybe someone can help you out before you have a read through all of those posts :)

Actually since trunk and 2.3 are diverging more and more testing trunk isn't that useful for 2.3...

Sure. Just saying that if you want to do testing for 2.3, test 2.3.
