That is kind of what I mean... If any direct fire weapon was put on it there would have to be some sort of mount on the back to allow it to shoot over the cab.
I think It would be nice if it had a direct fire adaptation though, as far as I know the heaviest thing scavengers have is a fire truck... And even that gets mowed down a little to easily.
Also... If more content like this is added I think we may see a scavenger campaign mod\map pack sooner or later.

I think that would be a lot of fun..

hmmm... maybe they can equip it with something like a heavy cannon then? or lasers xD

Perhaps it could be scaled up and made into a multiple turret scavenger boss?
This model reminds me of the those
gargantuan dump trucks I used to have toys modeled after when i was a little kid, they could be a unit that would dwarf every droid on the field, firing cannons and artillery wildly.
~edit
I found a few other Heavy machinery scavangers may find useful, like;
an
armored bulldozer... it could be slow but extremely durable.
Liquid fertilizer spreaders like the
Terragator... in addition to having a fun name, it would be like a bigger trike. In real life they are pretty quick most i have seen can do around 45MPH (about 70KPH) and i imagine with a little armor plating on the engine and cab they could be fairly durable. A
nother example
And don't forget about
Waste Management!

I have a feeling that those trucks were a lot more common than fire trucks.

That's very enlightening, thanks for your suggestions, I appreciate them very much!
One of the ideas I like the most for a heavy cannon scav unit would be to have an adaptation of excavators such as this:

But retrofitted with a locked-forward cannon instead of the mechanical arm. Actually, if we had working event-driven animation, I'd make a "melee" version of it, with the mechanical arm, so that the unit would approach the targets and strike them with it, causing considerable damage
Getting back to the cannon, since it'd be locked forward, I'd make the whole cabin be part of the "turret" model, so that it'd rotate freely to point the cannon anywhere (such as the actual excavator does when it's removing dirt from a wide area), so it'd work like an actual turret. Simple hidraulic pistons would do for pointing the cannon upwards or downwards
Another likely weapon I'll try in the future is a single-tube rocket launcher, not as strong as the bunker buster, but probably something like an early lancer
But the monster truck wouldn't work for direct-fire weapons, mainly because of the cabin. I'm thinking about equipping some rocket artillery or mortar into it, and some rapid-firing AA (such as the hurricane, but not as powerful naturally). I think it wouldn't be good to have the scavs being able to bother the players that much after mid-T2. But maybe we could have a scav difficulty setting in the future, allowing scavs to have better equipment? This would allow the players to select what kind of scav interference they want in their game, without the "all-or-nothing" stuff. Just an idea for the future
Thank you all for your comments, I'm pleased by the appreciation, and will consider the suggestions in my future models.

Unmount the arm,
mount weapon X,
mount rusty laminations with blanks,
hunt down Vipers!

I agree that some more advanced scavengers would be needed, but I still think the trikes and buggies fit the arizona landscape quite well. They can be built out of car parts and scrap metal and are good in the desert.
Consider the scavengers' tactics. Their main objective is to raid places for food and commodities that they bring back to base. They need to be quick and have some weapons to fight off rivals with. They seldom do major confrontations and therefore their force consists mainly of light vehicles. Some slightly larger "tribes" may, however, have some of these vehicles you describe, so that they can control/take out rival factions.
However, in places where more advanced military equipment or industrial capabilities are available, the scavengers will no longer be scavengers, but actual factions like the new paradigm.

Well, maybe they can't evolve because there are well-equipped forces gathering all the pre-collapse tech. In the first campaign, there are missions where you much recover power generator and research facility technologies, which are on the hands of the scavengers.
Perhaps the time gap between the start of the scavenger force and the encounter with the more advanced factions could explain why there would be better or worst equipped scavengers for you to fight against
The groups who had the time to equip themselves better would be your real adversaries, then. The existing, better-equipped scavs would be product of negligence from the local teams, who were busy fighting each other and occasionally gathering artifacts rather than eliminating the violent raiders.
And, of course, they'd need to have heavier equipment to defend their bases, even if their main need is to have light, fast vehicles to execute raids

Good points

Especially in the urban environments, there would propably be some bigger and a bit more organized scavenger factions with some actual military equipment, and yes, base defense would propably be a good niche for slow but heavy vehicles like the bulldozers etc.
Another thing very useful for base defence would propably be dug-in tanks. These only have the very tough turret armour present and are therefore quite hard to take out without heavy anti-armour stuff.

I really like this, I am gonna to implement it into dydo-scav AI as soon as available!!!

Scavengers are not morons, they are just not well educated
The Idea of rebuilding scavengers sounds controvertial but I like it
