Traps and Waterfalls
Re: Traps and Waterfalls
Well if you think mines are unbalanced, then just give cyborgs another role- mine sweepers. By mine-sweeper I mean run in and suicide any mine you see.

Suicide-Specialist Cyborgs? Really? I dunno...DTSX wrote:Well if you think mines are unbalanced, then just give cyborgs another role- mine sweepers. By mine-sweeper I mean run in and suicide any mine you see.

Re: Traps and Waterfalls
I bet mines would be the first thing that players would build around their base. If mines were ever re-implemented again, I wonder if they should be really really expensive so that they are not laid out all over the map.

Re: Traps and Waterfalls
no. mines are cheap. thats why they were/ are used. it makes coming into enemy territory time consuming and dangerous. so there you have it. real life. go figure eh?
Re: Traps and Waterfalls
Well, if they are dangerous for not just the opponent but also the player who made them, then they could be cheap i guess.
EDIT: I wish mines were easier to balance.

Re: Traps and Waterfalls
why easier - you cant get any easier than mines. they do a job. they blow stuff up. its all they were intended to do.
Re: Traps and Waterfalls
heck yeah,
well, I guess my statement makes sense only if they were removed due to unbalancing issues.

Re: Traps and Waterfalls
Josh, I could say stuff like create a wave-form disrupter that launches out a slightly damaging EMP wave that deals extremely minimal damage, but sets off mines in a small radius, but I'd be doing crazy talk there.
Hell should I know what the uses of cyborgs are really. I realized one thing- make a "Divine Wind" cyborg- If you have no idea what this translates to, here's the Japanese version- Kamikazi.
Why? Because nothing spells 'WTF IS GOING ON' like a well planned "do-or-die" suicide rush. Sure, you can set up pretty little defenses and rocket artillery, but at the end of the day, everyone likes a good wave of suicidal cyborgs. Just for the hell of it, give them a special body replacing weapon that has the rising sun on it and a flag on the back...
Absolutely stupid? Yes. Absolutely awesome? Equally so.

lol
surely if there's a game going on with mines, the safest thing to do is to lauch VTOL strikes?

I actually liked this crazy talk . It's a cool idea, to be honestDTSX wrote:Josh, I could say stuff like create a wave-form disrupter that launches out a slightly damaging EMP wave that deals extremely minimal damage, but sets off mines in a small radius, but I'd be doing crazy talk there.
Yes, the hard reality, i see what you mean.DTSX wrote:If you have no idea what this translates to, here's the Japanese version- Kamikazi.
I agree, but what you are suggesting is, well, "no-do-just-die"DTSX wrote:Why? Because nothing spells 'WTF IS GOING ON' like a well planned "do-or-die" suicide rush.
I agree, it is interesting. I'm really curious to know if this idea hasn't been implemented yet.DTSX wrote:Absolutely stupid? Yes. Absolutely awesome? Equally so.
P.S: I laughed really hard for
, but for totally different reasons, if you know what I mean.DTSX wrote: "Divine Wind" cyborg

should they get implemented, would they be called 'Divine Wind' or 'Kamikaze'?
Re: Traps and Waterfalls
lol... imagine playing a game against someone else- you're invaded by a bunch of Noxious Gas cyborgs... When people talk about it in the discussion, they'll refer it to the "Swamp Ass" tactic.
But in all seriousness, suicide cyborgs would be fun.
In terms of the waveform disrupter, the major coding problems (I actually don't know anything about coding) are the actual sending out waves part and the "Friend-or-Foe" issue that comes up since the waves would continuously be active, thus killing your units slowly.
This actually brought me another interesting idea- if we do manage to get a "FoF" recognition where it doesn't hurt allies and only hurts enemies, then I would love to see a huge version of the waveform disrupter. That way your territory isn't defined by the number of troops and defenses present, but the sheer fact that attrition would slowly eat at the enemy units in your territory. Of course this is countered by the auto-fix technology, but until then, you'll be fighting a battle where not only is firepower key, but speed and repair units.
