ok - where do i find this file, andhow do i rename it??? do i have to change the prgram it opens with or summat....i'm not a pc wiz so explain to to an alien lol! thanks

I believe you installed it into "C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100" right? well then you should rename "C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone.wz" into warzone.zip. If you have WinXP (or newer) you could now double click this file to open it, in there should be a directory audio, in there should be frontaud.cfg. If you don't have XP you can always use a utility such as
7-Zip or winrar.
Of course I advise you to rename back warzone.zip back to warzone.wz when you're done.

File is fine, I honestly have run out of clues as to why it requests Beep1.wav .

oh.....OK then, well I'll try uninstalling it and getting rid of it totally, and then downloading i and installing it again...

actually cleared up one thing but this one is still there... will get back on this later... need sleep now... 02:27 am (-7 gmt edmonton albeta canada) .

I can not find the word "wav" once in the sources and neither in the data...
I have no clue how it might end up there...
