Oh hey, Zarel's cool dude. Sorry for intruding in this conversation but you have no reason to fear him, or anyone in the project staff for that matter, this is all from my own personal experiences as a member. :D

Cheers.

EDIT: As long as you follow forum rules, you got nothing to worry about. XD

Normally I wouldn't mind PMing him or contacting him over IRC, but requesting to be a map reviewer when you've only been here about a couple weeks and are not that good at Warzone? No thanks! :P

What is wrong with asking? The worst thing that can happen is to be rejected. It won't get you banned or something... It is worth a try.

I can understand that, but he will certainly guide you on what you need to do to get there. And you seem to be better than average in understanding what good maps should be like, imho.

And now that Zarel's name has come up on this thread, he'll surely post his reply here (I hope). He's one of the most active devs on the forum.

I do? :D

But with all seriousness, it's not about the rankings. I don't even mind not having a rank at all. What's more important is:

Good community interaction => Bigger community => More publicity => More volunteers/developers => More ideas/contributions => BETTER WARZONE2100!! :D

Thank you all for your posts :)

kracker - I am glad you like my maps :) and I still remember our first games on Warzone battlefields :) I am still sentimental about it :)

WarTux - hao made good statement that you didnt notice that three last maps were with ten oil in base start.. and of course I know that I am always giving a lot of oil beyond the base.. but as I told many times before i dont like low oil.. which doesnt mean I will never do any low oil map :) speaking about "Oilfield" map as the name indicates it is an oilfield, you are to be overwhelmed by the amount of oil.. that is the purpose of this map.. and it is to look like oilfield :)

hao - I called "New York" "New York" :) becuse :) I knew from the beginning It will be the city :) It is called the name simply becuse the streets, the way how they are made on the map are similar of those of New York :) look at Googles maps on the plan of New York and you will understand :) almost all the streets of it are paraller :) and also the urban skyscrapers makes it look cool :) Speaking about "the roads" all map makers know it is hell to make them look normal ;) it took me many hours to make the ones of New York map.. and it driven me crazy many times.. I am glad you spoted that hao :) thank you :)

Rman Virgil - thank you for your opinion :) It is very important for me :)

Kuky, j0shdrunk0nwar - good to see you here :)

Thanx again guys for your posts :)

Bye :)

Yeah sorry about that! :? Next time post map previews. ;)

About 10 is still a bit too high. Most maps should have about 2 - 8 in-base oil. I understand that you prefer high-oil maps, I'm just offering my opinion. :)

Now that the oil issue is cleared up, let's discuss terrain- try to make some geographic features that have strategic importance. For example- sink or raise bases, make cliffs overlooking valleys, and create a few bottlenecks here and there.

Really? :D I'll give it a thought- but I need admin approval, right? ;)
Heya. You want reviewer status? Talk to me on IRC. You'll need to play a few games so I can see your skill level, but it shouldn't be a big deal.

Alright, guess I'll have to man up. I should play a few practice games before I challenge you. Which IRC channel are you on?

I'm on all the Warzone IRC channels, but we usually talk about map review on #warzone2100-games. Are you on IRC much? I don't think I've seen you.

If you're intimidated by me, you could also challenge Daltx, effigy, icefire, or acidjnk. Or play them for practice.
