A Map Editor
Re: A Map Editor
Crymson, there might be a release soon. Are you wanting any feature in particular?
So far it would just contain some small changes and Olrox's request for loaded .wz maps.

Re: A Map Editor
Nice guide... it might motivate me to fix some of those things.
Gateways are supposed to work. It's that G button above the map view. Then click twice in two different places.
The smooth radius isnt its own brush size. It sets the radius of samples it takes when deciding what the new height that the vertex should be. In other words, it's some obscure thing that doesn't need to be changed much and I should remove it. Smoothing uses the height radius at the top as well.
Maps can be exported and used in a campaign, but you need to know how to write the script files that go with it.
Do I have to?Letter from the Producer (flail13)
He hasn’t gotten onto me yet. Shame.

what problems? Please note that while Size and Offset can keep your objects and heights when used separately, using them together may cause problems.

But since you can't create gateways in this, I left it out.Gateways are supposed to work. It's that G button above the map view. Then click twice in two different places.
...tell me how I should say this in the manual, and it's changedThe smooth radius isnt its own brush size. Every time I used both at once, the entire map got erased :/what problems? Please note that while Size and Offset can keep your objects and heights when used separately, using them together may cause problems.
Heh heh, would they know though?Maps can be exported and used in a campaign, but you need to know how to write the script files that go with it.

Nah I dont think I willBlueMaxima wrote:If you want
Can't in what? You can in flaME.BlueMaxima wrote:But since you can't create gateways in this, I left it out.
You could say that it isn't necessary to change that radius, or leave it out completely and I'll get rid of the text box in the next version.BlueMaxima wrote:...tell me how I should say this in the manual, and it's changed
...I havent had that happen.BlueMaxima wrote:Every time I used both at once, the entire map got erased :/
Sometimes the camera is pointing at a part of the map that dissappears, and you can click on the minimap to get back to the map.
The offsets are which tile on the existing map will become the top/left tile on the new map. A positive value will cut off the top or left of the map that many tiles, and negative values will enlarge the top or left. Then the bottom/right of the new map will be the offset + size.
If the offset was larger than the size of the map then it would all be erased.

B - ...how do you create gateways?
C - OK, easy fix
D - May have caused it. I'll remove that paragraph tomorrow

Re: A Map Editor
Thanks! I would sometimes get ideas for a map, and then when I went to create them I would lose the motivation while trying to learn the features of the editors and how to use them. I'll have to take some time to create some maps now.BlueMaxima wrote:Take a look at what I made for flaME!

Yeah, I just meant that it looks pretty much like flaME without the map view.macuser wrote:Is that a compliment? or what? (yes it is actually running on mac)

Re: A Map Editor
I'll fix up the flaManual and have a second version ready in about eight/nine hours (hopefully).
PS: I figured out how to make gateways. You really should make it more obvious

Re: A Map Editor
Well, he is porting flaME to MAC. Macuser probably isn't adding or taking anything from flaME, so what could we expect other than flaME running on a MAC, without feature changes?Crymson wrote:Yeah, I just meant that it looks pretty much like flaME without the map view.macuser wrote:Is that a compliment? or what? Re: A Map Editor
Actually once I had finished porting it I had planned (if i have time before summer) to spruce up the interface to look more mac-ish.

Re: A Map Editor
I remind that Edit World is going to be ported to Qt (so it will look native everywhere)...

That it can work nicely only on Windows.BlueMaxima wrote:What's the point of porting EditWorld if we have flaME?
