Looking to join the redevelopment project.

I am not a big "gamer", but I am an avid C programmer with mild OpenGL experience. I would like to perhaps enhance the game visually, and add more options to the menus, and eventually move into the games operation. I need some help to get started here, is there a CVS repository for this games source? I would like to ensure that I am working from the most up to date source. If there is no CVS, perhaps we need to create one.

Have there been any efforts made to port this game to BSD? I would be interested in this as well.

Look around the site and wiki.

The WZR Project uses SVN instead off CVS.
See: svn://svn.gna.org/svn/warzone/trunk/

The development site is located at: https://gna.org/projects/warzone

And last but not least:

However, welcome to the WZRP.

I was told that the game compiles and runs on BSD with little changes to the buildsystem.

Erm. Well. I'm still studying atm, and doing my last studio project of my 1st year, but I reckon I can help, somewhat. I know C++ and I learned GLUT during my course. Anyway, I figured, since I'm in games development, might as well start with one of my favorite games. So ... If you need me to help, just tell me what to do.

Heh... read the code, and then tell us what you think you can do...

hmm I think a sticky post of 'how to help the redevelopment project' will be useful?

imo with the current limited 'manpower' and low popularity, even spreading the words will help WZR project greatly...
