That question probably wasn't clear enough, my fault...

What about adding new maps? Isn't there some scripting involved with that?

Yeah, possible. Everything is possible.
AFAIK, there is no definitive how-to on how to do this, besides looking at the current scripts, and figuring them out yourself.

I think Coyote's site (docs) may have some info on this though?
and it ends here.

Well, if I ever figure it out, I'll be sure to post a how-to ;)

Black Project made a Campaign Mod he released in March '09 called Hard Core Mode which is a stellar achievement.

You can find the last release here: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=2777#p26902

Like most complex changes to the game it is more time consuming than terribly hard to achieve because it is demanding of a rarefied skill set.

By comparing the original campaign files to Black Project's Hard Core Mode Campaign Mod you can clearly see just how it's done.

I would imagine the tedious task of writing a step wise tutorial would also be quite time-consuming and likely be scant appreciated. However if you want to make your own campaign mod and do the above comparative analysis between the original and Black Project's effort you will definitely have to take notes of your understanding as you proceeded (or you'd get totally lost just relying on memory) and those notes you take could be a solid basis for a useful tutorial on not just modifying the original campaign but by extension many of the nut's and bolts of building a new one. That hands on understanding would also be invaluable to informing the creation of any new campaign scenario. Most all proposed new campaign scenarios are obviously lacking this understanding which makes them pure pipe dreams than even remotely viable.

Lav's Docs Project has various tutorials that are still helpful but MUST be supplemented by this projects wiki article on text editing because there are some key changes to files and structures from the original. Black Project's Hard Core Mode Campaign Mod makes GFX changes, SFX changes, script-trigger changes as well as text editing changes so that it pretty much covers all bases of possible modification to the original campaign. IMHO, Black Project's mod is the most complex and creative mod of the last 5 years and also brought to a successful state of fun, fresh, richly varied and challenging game play. It also points to many of the shortfalls of present MP game play, IMHO, though I am fairly sure that was NOT Black Project's goal but rather my analytic interpretation of SP vs MP.

Well, the Hardcore Mod just modified stats (made AI units stronger, and nothing else). It's not a true campaign mod that adds new campaign scenarios or modifies existing ones, which would be significantly harder.

I'm going to write down, somewhere, an idea I've got, that is making the mightiest taskforce ever seen 'round these parts, to make the mightiest campaign ever seen 'round these parts, with the participation of the mightiest people... of the community ;)
I'm afraid that it'll have to come after AR - I've assigned top priority to it, regarding my "free-time" assignments hierarchy.
Don't tell anybody, but I'm working on Tiger textures right now :ninja:

Regards,
Olrox :!!!:

Its an open secret ^_~

You are ambitious and this is very good - but so is the virtue of completing that which you are working on.

Take it from me - I've left more start ups unfinished in my time than Casanova has had women. :P
