New skirmish AI: DyDo-AI rel 0.9
Re: New skirmish AI: DyDo-AI rel 0.9
I think you guys should start helping Dydo and suggest him a good templates and research paths. I am a longtime campaing player and has little experience in skirmish so my advices are not as good as yours could be.

Well, then, in T2 and T3, it can build Infernos, Thermite flamer cyborgs, and Plasmites. For tanks, they should be on hovers, in groups with nothing but hovers (which you should be doing in T1, anyway).DylanDog wrote:A practical example: in DyDo on T1 level the mostly built droids are flamers, the researches pursued in the very beginning are made to make flamers strong. This is AI balancing/optimization.
Clear now?
I mean, is it just that DyDo doesn't do anything other than use T3 versions of T1 weapons? Because if so, that's not a big deal - I was under the impression it didn't use T3 weapons at all, or something.
Re: New skirmish AI: DyDo-AI rel 0.9
Thaks for the advice, to be honest the AI script already try to build more Thermites but not Plasmites. Why keeping the hover in groups (for thisreason?)Zarel wrote: Well, then, in T2 and T3, it can build Infernos, Thermite flamer cyborgs, and Plasmites. ...correct, actually it uses T3 versions of T1 weapons, bodies and propulsions.Zarel wrote: I mean, is it just that DyDo doesn't do anything other than use T3 versions of T1 weapons? Because if so, that's not a big deal
Re: New skirmish AI: DyDo-AI rel 0.9
Ostensibly, yes. But there's a subtler reason that a group of units should be in a group if they're not going to get somewhere at the same time.DylanDog wrote:Thaks for the advice, to be honest the AI script already try to build more Thermites but not Plasmites. You're an AI; you can't micromanage movement. If you tell a group of hovers and tracks to go somewhere, the hovers are useless because they'll only go as fast as the tracks. If you turn of formation speed limiting what's the point of calling them a group? The hovers will get there first, but they won't have the tracks to back them up, so they'll get slaughtered. And then the tracks will get there, but they won't have the hovers to back them up, so they'll get slaughtered, too. Having all your forces attack at the same time is a force multiplier: Having 5 units attack at once is roughly 25x better than having 1 unit attack, and 5x better than having those 5 units attack one at a time.
That's also why I think formation limiting helps the AI more than it hurts it. If you want your faster units to go faster, then put them in a different group.

Sorry about my earlier reply, I made an error (was using an older version, thought I was using 1.1).
Re: New skirmish AI: DyDo-AI rel 0.9
I almost agree with your thought but for the following:Zarel wrote: You're an AI; you can't micromanage movement..... different group.
You want a group to move and stay all together until they have not reached a "hot point", then every unit should move at his best speed even if in a group. That is way I would like to have the possibly to tell the AI to use the best speed for a droid even if in group. DyDo do not simply send a group and attack, but it choose a gathering point not far away from the target. From that point I would like to have his units in the group but moving at their best speed. Nowaydays this is not feasible unless I really introduce micro units management in the script.
