This thread warrants another 'holy mother of pearl' award :P

Excellent work. Some have mentioned that the wheels should be seperate.

This is fine but I do see room for a flat and shallow vertical panel connecting the wheels from the inside - unmistakable from broader track armour but complimenting team colours nonetheless.

Woooo! Awesome pieces of work O_O.
I really like the separated wheels, and the "sniper rifle viper half track" is just insane.
Keep it up man!

I would remove the armor on the wheel at all... but, its also cool with armor on it, so i would have to look at them to know for sure.

Half-Tracks with a light body... this is my idea of how it would look like

I know, the wheel is huge xD

Hmmm I'll post some schematics this weekend so that we can decide which layout is better.
Because on the next three days I'll be very, very busy with some research and Structural Materials Resistance exam on saturday morning :stressed:

Anyone with ideas of layouts which you want to propose should feel free to do so (specially for medium and heavy bodies  ) until I get beck on making models!

Armor doesn't look good sitting on top of invidual wheels. Just a bare wheel, treads all around, would look nicer.

Here is a half track concept that might work :c) Not going to try the blender since Olrox blows me out of the water there ;)

It is basically a partially-armoured solution with a simple grid between the track and wheel

The amin problem is that the wheel needs space to tilt - for steering the vehicle, which is its main purpose. If I were to make armor for the wheel with enough space for it to tilt, the armor would look too large.

I was thinking to make the the half-tracks treads just like the tracks (with full armor), but shorter, and make the wheels like this:
Image

But, of course, with reinforced looks, not the sleek appearance of those of the picture.

And without armor. As Zoid said, Armor on top of idividual wheels look weird.

I'll make some schemes for those in the weekend, like I said - got to hurry with Sensorial System Research for tomorrow and make some Hidraulic Systems Blueprints for saturday. And that damned Structural Materials Resistance exam for saturday, also :stressed:
ahhhhhhh :mad;

I'm trying to understand the distinctions here; or rather lack thereof.

This is what is running through my mind.

The engineering requirements for combat vehicles designed to accommodate the safety, efficacy and comfort of human crews are vastly different than unmanned combat vehicles.

What I'm seeing here is no recognition of these engineering distinctions in the designs which is perfectly fine because this is an RTS game and not a simulation of real life and as such the coolness factor can be melded to a verisimilitude that basically ignores the real life engineering distinctions. In this last sense, through the magic of artistry, you can have your cake and eat it too were as in real life, or a simulation, you would have to make a clear choice and abide the engineering design distinctions.

1º - cumandgetit..... that's not a half-tracked tank... HALF means that 50% of the propulsion are tracks...

2º - New pic... It's a simple Idea of what Zarel wanted...

You guys tell me what you think

I think you need to learn to read more carefully.
 .

I NEVER said it was a half-track

This thread is called: Propulsion Models

NOT: Zarel's Desired Half Track Models

You entirely missed the point of my post but then again fawning can be a cognitive and remedial handicap in that respect. ;)

If you must assume anything assume I'm speaking to the creator of this thread - not you or Zarel or anyone else unless I specifically name who I am addressing.
