Similar games to WZ2100

I absolutely adore this game, and wondered if anyone had played anything similar?
Now when I similar, I am talking more about the unit construction side of things. I absolutly love the combinations available form just body, propulsion and equipment/armament.
I have played Earth 2150, its OK, but I am not a huge fan of the factions thing. I am looking at Supreme Commander, out soon, and have never played Total Annihilation.
Any suggestions.
What I would really love, is something with Units like WZ2100, but with kind of realistic weaponry. Not rail guns or lasers.

Total Annihilation is a great game, but you can't build you own units. I like some ideas of TA and i wish to see them in WZ, at least for mods (energy reserves, several types of energy, submarines...).
I don't know other games with this feature. Maybe Settlers 2 (you can't equip you soldiers with bow or swords), or stronghold (same thing, more or less).

Well I have played stronghold, but not settlers. That being said, I am not really an infantry man.

There WAS a couple of games, one was called Metal Knight. You could design your own units and stuff like Warzone, but the voice acting was somewhat lacking ... and I think there were some limitations to designing. Like some weapons could only mount on some chassis.
There was one more, but I only played the demo, so can't really remember much about it.

The game is called Metal Fatigue, and the multiple levels were nice too. (underground, ground and in the sky) You could design your own mechs, but tanks were
prefab.

metal fatigue is an awesome game. the combot-on-combot combat is *still* ahead of its time (especially for an rts), and this game came out in 99 or 2000, or something like that.

It looks like this game isn't free.
Even if this game is old, that doesn't mean you can just download it.
Please avoid links to ripped games on wz2100.net.

If by "expend" you mean "expire", then no it won't expire in 10 years. In most countries copyright expires 70 years after the death of the original author. If that original author was a company then copyright expires 70 years after the first time the copyrighted work was released.

metal fatigue is posted at Home of the Underdogs..
they dont state if its source code was released but they seem to pay close attention to weather or not a specific item can be handed out or not.

If the original author was a company then 70 years after the game release is enough as well. 70 years after death only applies when there is one individual author.
