Just a heads up everyone: I have the Gamma3 ready to post, but my home internet is still screwed. I have someone coming out Thursday to look at it.

Comcast came out. Said the problem wasn't outside, but in my building.
Not like, my room, or my connection... LITERALLY in my building. Part of the wires are within the masonry it seems. So he got to call a Condo-approved contractor who is coming out Monday.
...
That said, I've discovered that my connection seems to only be "going off" during the times of 3ish PM to 9ish PM. Since I already have the guide and all the screenshots ready, I'll see if I just stay awake tonight and post em.

Well, I just found out that the 100Kb attachment size limit has screwed my attempts to upload my pictures. I guess that's what I get for taking this long.

HaHaHa, I am having issues with this stage, Beta.4 (version 2.3)...
The Collective commander and his team are getting stuck in some buildings close to the "coast base".
I have to go in and kill them, under mortar and TK fire, losing several HI-EXP units (as advised).
I have restarted from a savegame taken at the end of Beta 3. Every time the same happens.
Also, I luckily only take 1, maybe two strafing runs from the VTOLs.
It seems I am coming close to a working strategy, with bombards, trucks, towers and the viper-hover-lancers.
Right now I am thinking about rookie python-hover-bombards as a solution. Maybe 16 bombards, 16 lancers, 8 trucks = 4 shipments.

I've got the same problem, BUT I did manage to come up with a solution using my MBG. I'd recommend the first load be 3-4 BunkerBuster hovers and the rest being trucks. Use the trucks to set up a fair few (6 will do) AA sites, which'll knock out some of the aircraft. After the strike, send the whole MBG in, and as usual push and retreat up towards the northeast base. I've done it without a single casualty, so I'm sure with enough patience it can be done. Either that, or create a bunch of 'drone' units, all at 0 XP, and use those instead.
Hope this helps

After I finish my guide, I'm going to "Replay" the stages in (whatever is at the time) the latest WZ release, to see if any of the guides have been outdated. This specific stage of Beta always seems to be the worst offender; what I wrote int he guide is what's SUPPOSED to happen, but any number of things seem to go awry in it.
That's one of the reasons I put forth the "scrubhovers" strategy... If the stage blows itself up such that the way you have to beat it is going to involve casualties, may as well be casualties of a unit you don't care about.

Also:
The upload limitation is stopping me from uploading my guides, but it WONT stop me from playing the game, so I guess I'll keep playing stages and taking screenshots. When the issue gets resolved, I'll just have more than a single stage to post ;p

Made it to G6 without guides (so far) - I keep getting new weapons and vehicle bodies, but I never know when I should upgrade (recycle/rebuild) my units. Can't wait to see your suggestions when you finally get to post.
looks like the best I have now is the medium body Retribution - should I wait for the heavy black body before recycling units?
Also got the following weapons - should I be replacing any of my current tanks?
- Avenger SAM
- rail Gun
- flashlight
- Scourge missle
Current tanks = Tank Killer Tiger Tracks, Heavy Cannon Tiger Tracks, Assault Gun Tiger Tracks

Replacing your TKs with Scourge is a sort of matter of preference. The TKS hurt more, the Scourge are homing and shoot farther.
The Flashlight is better than the Assault Gun for all purposes... but if you don't have any yet, the Flashlight's Big Brother, the Pulse Laser, is just around the bend, and you might hold out for it.
The Railgun (NOT the needle cannon) can be used to replace your HC, though you might want to check the weapons menu to see when you have enough upgrades for it that it actually passes the HC in damage first. The Railgun has more HP I think... but check me on that, I'm not at home to look.
You get the Avenger's Bigger Brother at the same time you get the Avenger, you just need to research up to it. Get the bigger one before using it.
As for the Medium Nexus body... you won't get the Heavy variant until 1/3 of the way through the final stage, so if you want to change, go ahead. The Nexus mediu7m has better armor and more speed than the Tiger, but fewer HP. I usually stay with the Tiger; Back in the 1.XX days when I first played, the Nexus weapons had such bigger punch that the armor difference didn't help much, and since I find the Tigers still valid, I never bothered to change. Not sure if it's still optimal though.

I ended the game twice now (playing last episode from a save), I can attest that the Tiger works better than Nexus medium.
Also, I did end only with scourges and gauss.
The Archangel battery at the LZ did wonders. Also, I found that this level has far too many SAMs for VTOL safety.
Even when I get Nexus Heavy, I still use tracks. Guess I got used to them. I feel hovers are way too weak, even at heavy.

I find that Retribution is pleasantly quick compared to the very slow Tiger, and not too much weaker. It's easier for them to retreat with the extra speed, so they seem to get stuck-and-killed less... though you do end up with a big queue at the Repair Fac after any large battle and have to wait ages before you can make another tank push.
Once I get Vengeance and the Gauss Cannon, I replace all my tanks(even the missile and laser armed ones) with Gauss Cannon Vengeance Tracks, a tank that's extremely tough, versatile, still pretty quick, and awesome-looking. Same thing with my arty once the Archangel becomes available.
As for VTOLs, there's 2 types of VTOL tactics that I've found to work on the last mission: a fleet of highly-experienced(elite-hero) BB-Vengeance VTOLs, or any BB VTOLs with MG-Bug suicide-drones flying in ahead to draw SAM fire. In the first case, the number of VTOLs attacking(4-6) simultaneously, together with the durability and speed of the birds, allows the fleet to take down concentrations of 4-6 Vindicator turrets in two runs without losses. The second case has you spam sacrificial MG-Bugs and anything-BBs to bring down the SAMs. The second tactic is probably faster and the losses are numerous but worthless, but I find the first tactic, combined with tank pushes, to be more fun.

Once an area has been cleansed of SAM threats, I send in Retaliation-Phosphor bombers on a patrol to clean up whatever is left.
In my experience, emplacement artillery hasn't worked very well - any concentration I put up at the LZ barely brings down 2-3 enemy emplacements before getting annihilated. Mounted artillery with Repair Fac support seems to work much better in my opinion.

Awesome guide! I had only one oil derrick in Alpha 2, so it was really hard to finish that stage. Then I released that you could build more at the blue blinking points...
Alpha 6 was really hard and it was there I begin to use the guide. First I didn't know what I should transport, so I load the ship with one truck and some various machine gun tanks. That work pretty well. Then I was not what I should do with the scavenger base after grabbing the tech. If I destroy it completely I get the message. It ended up that I destroyed the base anyway and then just run all my tanks in the heavy defended base. That actually... works this time, but I have lost that stage many times by doing the same thing. Well, this time I keep my mortars at range and build sensor- and mg-towers in front of their base.
You don't say anything about the sensor tanks, I think that was a good idea to build one before you get the command tank to lead the mortars. But sensor towers are maybe better and you might wanna keep the mortar at one place?
Alpha 7 was pretty easy when using the push-forward strategy. However, the stage doesn't ended after I have destroyed the sensor tower. After destroyed all bunkers, hard-points, towers, etc. that shot at you and the scav stuff, the stage was ended.
Maybe I was dumb, but in Alpha 8 I thought you should destroy the bunker they was building. Then, after some loses, I understand that I should go to the second landing place! xD

Hey there CheatCat,
Consider playing the tutorial before proceeding with any real-action, it's somewhat useful. And you'll have a better experience if you go through most of the guide at least once. And I'm not talking about just the walkthrough. The guide has been specially formatted for printing, so having a copy of the manual proves very handy for a first-timer.
Regards,
JDW

>.> nooo
i got up to the end of the guide >.< now what?
lol kidding, im feeling my way through.
skrim, emplacements vs mobile artillery one truck can build a ton of emplacements, one mobile unit can only be one artillery.
Using emplacements means that you can keep building them over and over and over (you have 20k+ energy, right?)
