ok here it is - changed a few things - use this map only with the trunk ( http://guide.wz2100.net/files/builds/ ) version - it has turned out rather nicely. hope the lack of resources is what your after.

had water patches it would also unfold the "Orca"... In short - folks are in store for an epic and varied gaming experience.

hmmmm water you say? maybe... will have to see if maybe instead of a 128 by 128 i could maybe up that to 250 by 250 and add a bit of water to some parts - that would force the octopus to the front... so to speak.

am having a problem!! i cannot import a heightmap into the editor. damn thing will either crash or will skew the height map.

That often happens with me. I usually make the map and heightmap a bit bigger and it usually works. Also, .png heightmaps have never worked for me, it always makes three smaller versions of the heightmap in the top third of the map, the middle third is really bumpy and the bottom third is fairly flat.

I'd forgotten till I duplicated my process last night for this EW.
However.... don't know how helpful this will be...
I can run both format HMs without crashing.
.PCX will skew. .PNG will be normal. Same HM as 2 pics below.
I got used to making WZ2100 HMs as .PCX so from there I converted to .PNG
(Making sure to maintain the 8bit-256).... Most of the new maps I made last year
were on a different EW and "War School" is a resurrected project from a few years
back and I'd forgotten how I made the HM till I dug up the old files. Having worked
with 3 versions of EW over the years it can get confused which is which in some
respects in my brain - all 3 having different protocols in their functionality..
Sometimes the skewed .PCX is interesting so I'll go ahead and use it...
but generally that would be a "simple" HM as opposed to the complexity
of the one below.
Well the 2-man team that created the Random Map Generator are working
on a New Map Editor..... so, if all goes well, in the near future dealing with
the frustrating quirks of 32EW will gladly fade from memory. Though the
version of EW Remus coded was rock solid and a joy to work with, but even
those good memories will fade with a New Map Editor ALL can use without
beating their heads to a pulp against a wall of instability.
All this brings to mind:

I mentioned the following a while back to the folks trying to run 32EW in WINE but
it occurs to me that it applies here as well.
Why even think that 32EW is the only way till a new editor is made from scratch.
Rodzilla made a script that converted all the old .wdg maps - stock, campaign & a ton
of fan maps made with 16EW - to run on the WRP binary.
Compared to 32EW.... 16EW is rock solid so why not use it to make maps, run Rod's
script and then play 'em in trunk which uses its own tertiles anyway ?
If that would work then all the hassles with 32EW could be circumvented perhaps..
I say perhaps because I don't have Rod's script to test..
