Version 2.1.2
Posted: 08 Mar 2009, 02:01
by Zarel
Hey, everyone. We've just released version 2.1.2.
This version offers:
- A fix for the crash that happens when a 7th player joins a game.
- Several other fixes for several other crashes.
You'll notice we haven't fixed the oil drum issue. That'll be in 2.1.3, folks.
For the full list of changes, see the
change log.
Known Issues
The known issues from 2.1 remain.
The full list of known issues:
- Switching languages through the menu, on Mac OSX can cause crashes (#170).
- Save games from the 2.0 series can not be loaded with this version. (NOTE: We do not intend to "fix" this, as we are breaking compatibility with the previous save game format.)
- The multi player code has been improved since beta 2, but running out of sync is still possible.
- The game in general still aborts quite often in debug builds due to failed assertions.
- Save games from 2.1 beta 4 (that, and only that version), can not be loaded with this version. (NOTE: We cannot fix this because the beta 4 save games miss information we need.)
Download
The source code and all available binaries can be found, as usual, at the
download page.
Best regards,
The Warzone 2100 Resurrection Project

Actually, I think the oil drum bug is fixed in 2.1.2. At least I and Buginator tried to fix it, and could not reproduce it.

I am pretty sure he is talking about the insta-spawn issue, which isn't really a bug, more like a design flaw.

is there any known work towards the repair factory glitch when your units simply stop from repairing themselves and or get stuck and dont move forcing you to remove them?
I can get a video or show you, but it seems to be completely random.

No, that bug keeps evading me. Whenever I decide to sit down to fix it, it starts working again. Very annoying.

Is this the problem of the code?

Thanks for reviving this awesome real-time strategy game!
There's a bug I have to complain in this game which haven't been fixed yet. It made my PC to malfunction after this program crashes, and then, some of my .EXE files won't run properly anymore...

I guess i'll have to reformat my PC again!

That's on my "to do" list for 2.2. I don't think it's something I'll be backporting to 2.1, sorry. :/

We know. Nothing we can do about it.

That's a very strange bug.
Do you have a crash dump (a .rpt file in the Warzone directory), a description of what you were doing when the game crashed, a better description of how exactly your other EXE files are malfunctioning, or anything like that? Those are all useful information to know in diagnosing and fixing a bug like that.
In addition, have you tried rebooting? That's likely to fix the EXE malfunction.

For what it is worth, warzone don't touch (write) to ANY file besides what is in the config directory.
If warzone crashes, and then other programs don't work, then it smells like a virus/trojan.
