It will have videos. We don't have estimates on when it will be released yet (technically, the roadmap says mid-2009, but that's unlikely), but it's definitely going to be at least a year (we haven't even branched it from trunk yet).

For what it is worth, you can get nightly builds of trunk which *do* have the FMV playback code in it. Then you can download the FMVs, and see them.
As for timeframe for a 2.2 release. I can't really say, most devs want it ASAP, but since everyone is lacking in time, the actual release date is unknown.
I suggest just getting a nightly build, and the FMVs, then you can play the game (the way it was meant to be played), and post about it in the campaign FMV thread.
