Remove time limit from single player

Hi a few days ago I installed warzone2100 via fedora package. The game is nice, what I like most is the design possibility, it rules. However after passing the first level I noticed that the next mission have a time out. I thought that was (like every real-strategy-game) a special mission. But when I pass it, what I get? another fu.... time mission and so on up to level 7 (I got tired :scream: ). Now I understand why this game doesn't gain popularity, because the single player mode sucks!!! Come on more than two missions with timer in a campaign is horrible but the 90% of the campaign is bullsh... I know it looks like I am angry but the only thing I hate in a strategy game is the time-out, you cannot enjoy for base, formations, units ( :scream: ). So beg (if any responsible of this project read this post) add the possibility of removing the time limit like an option.

Any solution would be appreciated

Regards
KBT

i understand where you're coming at...because of that time limit i have struggled through the campaign...but it does give the game a sense of challenge because you are forced to focus...but i do like the idea of having the time limit as an option rather than a mandantory thing... xD

The other issue is that, unlike other games, Warzone actually keeps all your units, structures, research, and power between missions (as opposed to other games, which make you start from scratch). Without a time limit, players could just stall and mass units, structures, and power, and make all subsequent missions ridiculously easy. This is why only the first, third, and last missions have no time limit.

There are mods to remove the time limits; you can try one of those if you want. And the time limits are already usually much higher than necessary - most of the 30-minute-limit missions take five minutes or so.

thats true because a lot of those missions are uber easy...but some of them do have an excessive amount of time...

That's why all good strategy games do limit units, resources, but no time and this really sucks, no matter what you say but it sucks.

I do agree with Zarel and NewTiberian..... but....

This is really no biggie. Just use the time toggle cheat to turn the mission timers OFF. Viola !

Here is HOW to do it: http://wiki.wz2100.net/Cheats

Piece a cake.

Thanks, However if you want challenge try play like this:
-Play in Hard or Brutal.
-Never have more than 20 units on the field (including trucks) + 10 aircraft/ships (if available).
-Just save once (wherever you want, I recommend at the end).
-End the mission with losing an unit or structure.

I have play with this scheme in all command and conquer (since red-alert to CC3 kane wrath). Then tell me if this is not a challenge. In any *craft is bit more easy because AI also have unit limit, but I don't like these ones like C&C.

Nevertheless if you want fun just play with another person not versus AI.

There is no Brutal mode here. We have Easy, Normal, and Hard. The only thing they do is change the HP of the enemy units and structures.

The rest of the stuff your speaking of are self-imposed challenges.
That's why all good strategy games do limit units, resources, but no time and this really sucks, no matter what you say but it sucks.
There is a unit limit in this game already. When you hit it, a message saying "Command Control Limit Reached - Production Halted" will appear.

If you can't finish the missions in the WZ campaign well within the time limit, you're doing something really, really wrong somewhere.

I know that there is no brutal mode :stressed:, but some like C&C G uses it. What I was trying to say is: play on the hardest mode.

I can finish the missions and I never have a time limit problem (at least 30% of total time remaining, and with out losing an unit or structure). But I love to waste time at the end of the mission when the AI is nearly destroyed just for fun and make a strongholds bases an play with AI's for hours (5) seeing how all their units dies without kill one of mine. But game doesn't permit it because it have a time limit (and wanna know why they don't remove it? because even in hard mode, AI is QUITE dumb)

The entire game is designed around the requirement of a time limit for single player, the single player is one long traditional 'level', resources, experience, etc. are kept from 'mission' to 'mission', therefore necessitating a time limit to prevent building a huge, experienced army and simply swarming the objectives on each mission. [Most singleplayer C&C missions end like so.]

This is a old thread, but I like to say that I hate that mission timer too. I know so many games that thought a time limit would make a game better, but that´s a big mistake I think. A time limit doesn´t make anything better except of making the player angry and confuse when he made everything very well in several attempts on one mission but when he lost again and again because the time was over. A lot of games seem to think using a time limit may be the easiest, cheapest and most quick way to include a "feature" to "improve" a game. If someome does not like to think about how to make a game really better, then he might include a timer and that´s it ...

First of all, you have plenty of time. One of my suggestion would be to limit time even more (for example in a hard difficulty). Losing a mission because of the timer is now impossible. Seriously. Maybe vs nexus, but not before. As some of you wrote earlier, timer must stay. Without it, a lot of players will destroy all but 1 enemy, go shopping, eating etc and after their return, with 10^5 power, they will start complaining that there is no timer.

The timer must stay! It's a game mechanic that works it helping to make it a challenge. It's no problem managing to beat a mission before the timer, the only time it can become a pain is during the Gamma missions, mainly due to one wrong slip messing you over, but that was what made the game good, it was a challenge, ti made NEXUS more terrifying.
