This is the new research facility model, version 2.1. Vents will be added later, on top of the building, and I've added a single tile with a Assault cannon Scorpion Tracks on it. I'm at university, so I have no textures for it, but I've added colors to allow better vizualization. I've given up the office buiding look for a military base facility look, as demanded. As before, blood red parts are intended to be teamcolored
Comments? :D

Edit: Replaced the file, the first was cut by autocad 2005's dumb rendering.

How do you tell that it is a research center?

I do agree it might be confused with a missile silo or something like that (but that doesn't even exist in the game without mods as it is), but I'm sure some textures could make it clearer.
What does a 'real' research lab look like anyway? :) Research labs are easiest to recognize from the inside, at the outside they could be tents, shacks, rebuilt garages, underground facilities or skyscrapers.
The original Wz2100 model only makes it clear that it is a research lab by the rounded edges of the building and the Biohazard sign on the roof. A biohazard sign could be used in the new texture as well if needed (might look good if it uses the teamcolour and looks painted on the roof with a slightly faded spray paint colour).

The Biohazard sign was added in UKM. :P The original model used an "R" to make it clear. It also kind of looks like a research complex.

before pumpkin consolidated into one universal research facility they had 7 research
facilities that specialized in different areas. might find the designs interesting. here
they are in a .zip as .gifs

They sure look stylish, but the only ones that aren't too crazy shaped are the nanotech lab and the heavy weapons lab. Not that I don't like the other, but it seems that the kind of building expected for warzone is definetely of a "bunker style" (fortified buildings of any sort that offered enough structure for some use for the project).
I'm almost sleeping right now, it's almost 11 PM here, and I didn't sleep last night, so...
:stare:
I'm going to add the tank to the factory model, for comparison, tomorrow.
Thank you all for your support, and I'm glad you like my work!

a key point, no doubt.

also of interest - the artist, nick cooke, had this to say about the future of wz2100:
Expect to hear a lot from us as we continue to challenge the established order !

"I need no warrant for being, and no word of sanction upon my being. I am the warrant and the sanction." Anthem

"Art is the selective recreation of reality according to the artist's metaphysical value judgments." A. Rand

hahahaha
well, I can't challenge the estabilished order very much, if it is estabilished by the wz2100 community and I'm on its forum!
xD
But I've got the idea, sure, don't put an elephant inside my room or I'll have to use my grue.

hehehe... i would never make such an impudent suggestion or place any other critter in the room but a nightingale warbling happy songs. ;)

did you know that the original wz represents 45 man years of work and that the sequel, wz 2120, was gonna be built from scratch, making no use of the original code base at all ? O_o

gotta work within the limits of what was done back in the day, esp as a foss project, but even still there is room for special efforts, striking creativity, me thinks.
