Wow, I was not aware of that function, that was pretty cool. That's pretty much what I needed, though i would like there to be a function so that kind of effect could be shown around all your sensor towers when you toggle some switch, not just the one you have selected currently.EvilGuru wrote: Try Shift + F12. Is the drawing is clear enough?
Well, the idea is to have 4 kinds of walls instead of 2, adding the "T" wall and the "L" wall.
Pros:They are more resistant on some sides
Cons:They can't support weapons (4 points only)

Re: Warzone 2100 wish list - all can contribute_part 3
There would probably be a couple problems with that. If there were a T, and an L wall, 8 more walls would probably have to be added to the game. Because you can’t rotate buildings, you would need 4 wall positions so they would face the correct way. Even then, it would be confusing to pick the one you need when your building them, since all the L, and T’s would look the same.qwerty800 wrote: Well, the idea is to have 4 kinds of walls instead of 2, adding the "T" wall and the "L" wall.
I suppose this could be fixed if the walls automatically rotated themselves around when placed next to another wall.

You can rotate buildings. In fact, the walls already automatically rotate - I wrote (well, rewrote) that code myself!ClockWork wrote:There would probably be a couple problems with that. New Suggestion: Multiple Researching
New Idea and Suggestion from me:
More than one Research Facility can together research the same Item, making it faster.

This is no real Improvment or? The Corner-Wall could do the same. T- And L-Walls just may look better to some People. That may really be, but the Corner-Walls should offer a better Stability because of the Corners. This is why i recommend Corner Walls to be stronger than the |-Walls - they aren't and that's a unlogically. Corner-Walls should be able to be built just like |-Walls, costing 50 Energy, offering higher Defense and Structure Points, as it should be.qwerty800 wrote:Well, the idea is to have 4 kinds of walls instead of 2, adding the "T" wall and the "L" wall.

The game can rotate buildings internally. The player can't. But mapmakers can.Zi-Chan wrote:How? What is the Hotkey?Zarel wrote:You can rotate buildings.

Oh my God.. Awesome.. [/irony]Zarel wrote:The game can rotate buildings internally. The player can't. But mapmakers can.
Then here is my next Suggestion: Rotatable Structures inGame via Hotkey.
CTRL or SHIFT + Left Click to rotate 90°. When releasing CTRL or SHIFT, the Structure turns back to the Standard-Direction, for making it easy to turn back to it. Otherwise you would have to click three Times to get back to the Standard-Direction.

those outlines are indeed usefulEvilGuru wrote: Try Shift + F12. Not exactly what you're looking for but very close (maybe even superior).

but the graphic used is a bit ott, especially with 40+ units in the field it drains the system resources(kills the fps) a bit much for what it does. a simple (insert force color here) line would seem more efficient

its only really base structs & possiby gates that would require rotation, and you cant drag out a line of factories or other base structs...
which means the same control could be used for draging out a line of arties could by used to rotate buildings depending on whether a struct or defence was being set.
seems cleaner & more intuitive for the end user to me to me.
-------
"Z" key sensor view function changed to toggle rather then hold-to-keep-active.
perhaps scrap the(not really working) toggle build menu reopens command, and simply toggle it open/closed with F3 & replace if another F-key is used
could the message bars be stopped before they clash with that part of the screen where the clock is, or the mission clock moved
ability to select units of a single type quickly after drag selecting a large random group(think homeworld)

thanks
Re: Warzone 2100 wish list - all can contribute_part 3
I agree with that. Lets say:psychopompos wrote:"shift + click/drag"
seems cleaner & more intuitive for the end user to me to me.
CTRL + Click = Placing Structures on different Locations. E.g. one Structure there and another one somewhere else, so no dragged Line.
SHIFT + Click = Dragging a Line (good for Walls, Towers and Bunkers).
Right Click = You can right click the Structure without or within the dragged Line, before Building, to rotate it. Building-Mode dissappears, when you hold off both Mouse Buttons.
I recommend Right Clicking for Rotating, because the other Button, which would come in Question, would be ALT - and this wouldn't be very user-friendly IMO.
Doesn't work always. Did you notice, that you have to click another Button, e.g. ESC, for making it workable again? Double click a Unit, then every Unit with the same Parts gets selected too, this works, but then double click another Unit - it only selects this single Unit. You have to press ESC or another Button for making it working again. Don't know, if this got fixed already.Zarel wrote:Double-click on a unit.psychopompos wrote:ability to select units of a single type quickly after drag selecting a large random group(think homeworld)
New Suggestions (brining the first one back to the top):
Research Facilities switchable, making them researching one Item. So all Research Facilities could research the same Item. Or three of them research that and the other two something else. Brings more Strategy to the Game. The faster you research something certain, the faster you get stronger. The items, which one Research Facility, shouldn't dissappear on the ItemLists of the others - there should appear a little Icon like the Heart, meaning you are already researching this, but you can switch another Research Facility together with it, up to all of the Facilities.
I suggest new Game-Modes or Attributes at this Point:

Damn, while Chatting i forgot my other Suggestion.. I will edit this Posting.
Re: Warzone 2100 wish list - all can contribute_part 3
Eeek. People can already get to T3 fast enough. I don't want to be dealing with Gausses when I only have Medium Cannons.Zi-Chan wrote: Research Facilities switchable, making them researching one Item. This is why it should be CHOOSABLE. Everyone, who wants it, should can use it, e.g. me.Zarel wrote:Eeek. People can already get to T3 fast enough. shift is pretty much the universal queue command key, and wouldnt make much sence to have 2 different systems for queuing commands in one game.Zi-Chan wrote:I agree with that. Lets say:psychopompos wrote:"shift + click/drag"

ctrl click makes me think force fire
the thing with using right click, since it currently has a deselect/cancel role, there could be annoyence.
as soon as you release the rmb the truck could be deselected etc.
shift click to queue multiple builds in different places.
drag click to set a line of defences, holding shift if in a queue.
drag click on base structs rotates.
(both with no need to keep reopening the build menu
you just have to click really fast(at least i do).Zi-Chan wrote:Doesn't work always. Did you notice, that you have to click another Button, e.g. ESC, for making it workable again? and is a total pain in the ass when all the units are running in circles...
thing is
you got a group of 30 units, mgs, cannon, lancer etc.
they are all spinning in circles due to collision reaction & lack of space.
try selecting the lancers & flamers as one group with shift & double click, its annoying
there is no simple way to select the units you want quickly & without error.
its frustrating & unrefined having to chase them when there are easier ways to do it.
Re: Warzone 2100 wish list - all can contribute_part 3
I agree with Zi-Chan. And I must point out that this would mean that you (if you chose to use the function) wouldn't get as _many_ topics researched in some amount of time as you would if you gave all your facilities different topics to research, but that you could set priorities, meaning you could possible get that tech that could save you from getting killed research a bit faster, and perhaps turn your defeat into a - if not victory - at least a chance to regain your strength.Zi-Chan wrote: Research Facilities switchable, making them researching one Item. And you yourself would have to choose when you think it is best to research all those rocket upgrades (which could make all the facilities busy with all the different upgrades that exist) or if you should set all your facilities to research that otherwise slow-to-research weapon that could turn the way your battles are going.
That could mean that when your base is flooded by those Medium Cannons which you haven't researched yet - you could set all your facilities to research the anti-tank rocket and hope to turn the battle in your favour.
