Pig: You could try to use telnet to test if a connection can be established at all in both directions. (I think WZ opens a connection in both directions, since it came from the all-clients-are-servers approach, but I am not sure.)

Great idea! I didn't think of testing the connection with an external application. I'll see what I can do.

Thank you once again, I think we'll be able to figure it out. Apparently my friend failed to open ports correctly as he can telnet into me but I can not telnet into him. I'll be working to correct the problem and if I figure it out I'll add a Multilayer FAQ to your wiki.
Hmm, this is weird. He can't connect to my game even though he can telnet into it. Do both the client and the server need the ports open? I'm not sure why his router refuses to open the port...
[Edit]
Maybe it will let him connect, now, whenever he tried to connect WarZone starts using 100% CPU and locks up - for him - I (the host) am still fine.

Warzone's netengine came from a point where all clients tried to stay in sync with each other by exchanging information via UDP. I think only the type of connection was changed...
So yes, I think both clients need to have the port open.

Rawr. Alright, I'll find out why his router refuses to froward ports.

all i wanna do is play this game online...anyone here got XFire/AIM, so we can try and connect to someone else's server, to see if its just the game, or our routers?

Ok, pig,
Machello (doesnt have router) was able to host a server, with no lag, and i joined. and we played for like 5m because ihad to go, but, i think our routers are stopping it.

I think the person hosting the server needs that other port open I'll be trying it soon.

I played 30 minutes ago online. No Problems.
I have a router and placed myself in a DMZ as host.
The other players did nothing, just join to my ip.

I just tested Multiplayer using Hamachi with my brother, worked pretty well.
He created a network in Hamachi and I joined it.
Then I used the IP he has in the Hamachi network to connect to the game he hosted and we played.
Only thing is, the game freezes from time to time and then resumes functioning. Lag perhaps?

I only get it to work in DMZ - on terms of the freezing, I get that too, usually when I am playing with people with slower connections (dial-up) I am assuming it is lag.

The lag is probably the game syncing, its just not as pretty as syncing in games like command and conquer, my guess anyway.
