Ok
I downloaded and install the 32 bit windows map editor, I just dont know how to get it started I cant find a .exe file for it just the option to uninstall it. Or is it a command I have to use in game to access it. ?
Im really new at this.

The installer version will install the editor. (it installs all the required data files + program)
Then you must get the newer version in the sticky to make it work with 2.1. (just a .exe that you run instead of the original)
I don't know what you installed, which link did you use?

Re: 32 bit windows map editor issue cause im a noob at this
this also happened to me, the installer installs the program fine, but it only adds a shortcut to the uninstall program in the start menu, not any link to the map editor itself, you'll have to create that link yourself.

Re: 32 bit windows map editor issue cause im a noob at this
i'm haveing a bit of a problem myself with he editor. I was able to follow the directions and build a decent map, or the start of one.. then I saved it and left. When I loaded it up to finish. an error came up as I was loadint it up again to do more work on it. It said something like "texture pageis not consistant with numbers.. someone help me out a bit?I wanna finish me map
Re: 32 bit windows map editor issue cause im a noob at this
Yeah, I've noticed that I can't load any of the .lnd files I've saved, so I can't continue on any of the maps I've been working on.Tokaga wrote:i'm haveing a bit of a problem myself with he editor. Though the errors I get are different from the ones you seem to have gotten.
These are the ones I get when I try to load an lnd file (in the order I recieve them):
F:\Warzone Editworld Beta\stats\features.txt
Error loading IMD
WarzoneDataC3.eds
Error Processing Data Set

Re: 32 bit windows map editor issue cause im a noob at this
Yup.. thats exactly what I have. I think it has to do with setting your [Tile texture size] and your [Tile size] to 128.. the thing is.. thy seem to only work for a dessert map, and the other two fail to open because of the difference in texture sizeYeah, I've noticed that I can't load any of the .lnd files I've saved, so I can't continue on any of the maps I've been working on.

Re: 32 bit windows map editor issue cause im a noob at this
No offence to anybody, but this editor seems to be bugged crap.
It is simple unfinished piece of code, nothing more.
I have also tried to build a simple map, but the compiled map forces the game to crash, if I try to load it ingame. And nobody seems to be able to say me, what is the cause. I have followed all the av. tutorials and hints in forum, but nothig helps.
The most annoying things about this editor, I found so far:
- you have to save your map in the SAMPLES folder, other way you can not load your saved map.
- If you start new map, you have to choose the Data-Set from SAMPLES Folder not from DATA-folder, or you become error message.
- If you compile the map, sometimes the tilessets changes completly, they look different and the tiles captions are not the same. The size chages etc. You can find nothig anymore. You have to restart the editor.
- If you compile the map you must choose the "newmaps" folder for the gam-file, but the file will be stored in "Newmaps\multiplay\maps" folder, but the compiled map you can find in "newmaps" folder. :/
This file managmenet is pure chaos.
- the top down-view has no zoom
-the pos-marker on locator-maps is disapearing, so you do not know where you are.
I really can not understand how people are able to finish big maps with this Editor.

Re: 32 bit windows map editor issue cause im a noob at this
and all these problems are due to the person that was working on this was involved in an incident at work - was unable to continue due to extended coma.
and on top of all that - the sourcecode he was using to do all the changes was lost in an hard drive crash. i know this due to the fact i was helping test the damn thing.
anyone wanting to take up and redo it - hey nothing stopping you... i will assist as much as i am able - testing wise only. i am not a coder.
and having made several maps with this editor - which by the way takes patience ... lots of patience ... it does work.
oh and ps - most everyone will say dont waste your time etc... well... i have yet to see anything else working. so as i said - someone start it.

Also, don't forget to read the editor tutorial, and DON'T CHANGE THE DEFAULT SETTINGS FOR THE DIRECTORIES! That part wasn't finished, and if you change it, you get screwy errors!

Re: 32 bit windows map editor issue cause im a noob at this
The two existing tutorials explain how to install and configure the editor and some basic things about WZ related mapping,Buginator wrote:Also, don't forget to read the editor tutorial, and DON'T CHANGE THE DEFAULT SETTINGS FOR THE DIRECTORIES! but they do not explain, how to create working map.
If you install the editor there are NO DEFAULT DIRECTORY SETTINGS, you have to set them, I did it based on the tutorial.
As long, as my compiled maps are forcing the game to crash, I'm not enable to create working map.
Even, because there is no informative error message or something else helpfull.

If you post your .ind file in a .zip here as an attachment I'll have a look and see if I can diagnose the issue. As long, as my compiled maps are forcing the game to crash, I'm not enable to create working map.

EDIT:
=======
2.0.10 works !,
2.1 beta crashes to desktop:
error : [openLoadFile] file multiplay/maps/2c-metal55/ttypes.ttp could not be opened: File not found
error : [openLoadFile] Assert in Warzone: frame.c:308 (!"unable to open file"), last script event: '<none>'
error : [loadMapPreview] loadMapPreview: Failed to load terrain types file
error : [openLoadFile] file multiplay/maps/2c-metal55/ttypes.ttp could not be opened: File not found
error : [openLoadFile] Assert in Warzone: frame.c:308 (!"unable to open file"), last script event: '<none>'
error : [startMission] Unable to load mission file
EDIT2:
=====================
I put them closer together in my version of the map, like in your screenshot,Rman Virgil wrote:-------------------->
* Here's a Screen Cap (I did bring the HQ, Trucks and Oil in closer proximity to each other.)
but the compiled map still crashes the game, with this error in the log:
error: loadTerrainTypeMap: too many types
So, the position is not the cause.
Which editor version are you using, and how it is configured ?
