I believe there is a bug in the second alpha base away mission. First I saved my game after completing the previous away mission(the one where you aquire the heavy mg technology), but instead of hitting continue i hit the quit to main. from there i loaded the save. it took me straight to my base with the airship docked on its pad and my vehicles running around underneath it. i looked at the intelligence tab and it didn't say what the mission objectives were(but w/ my superior intellect i surmised it was another away mission) so i recycled my crappy mg cars and rebuilt half of them with twin mgs whilst researching heavy mg and sent them off on the mission(i later sent the other half built w/ new heavy mg). I killed every enemy i could find(base to the left, the base to the far left, and the base to the north with the mortar technology) then i got a message saying that my mission was to attack the enemy and recover their technologies(this message was obviously my mission objectives). However, after recovering the artifact for the mortar, i did not get a message stating that i should return to the LZ. Thus i was unable to complete the mission. Perhaps there is a way to get around this? Mb there should be a mission restart button or something

As for the mission not finishing, did you get BOTH artifacts?

There should be mortar and half-tracks, in separate bases, one in the research center, the other in a scavenger base to the north.
