Noob Question - New to the forum, not to playing WZ

Obviously I dont want to annoy people by posting in the wrong area of the forum so I posted here,
but I have a question:
I have been playing warzone 2100 for many years now (on and off), decades in fact. and am so old I
called myself stegasaur for forum purposes. My question is this:
Whenever I reinstalled whatever version of Linux , I simply used the version of warzone in the operating system repo
and when it told me that I needed the campaign video files I downloaded them separately.
Currently I just changed to the latest version of Xubuntu Minimal, yesterday, and I am wondering, is there
any advantages to installing a copy of warzone 2100 from the download area of wz2100.net rather than installing it from
the Xubuntu repo's, apart from getting the campaign video's?

The advantage of getting it from here is it will be the latest version (typically, the versions supplied from their repos are not the most up to date).
