I'm surprised you haven't gotten an answer in over two months, but this mostly depends on what kind of addon you want to install. Mods should be placed in mods/4.01/autoload (given your mod is compatible with 4.x), while any other type of addon can simply be placed in folders named after the type of addon you have.
