I see... so it means i won't be able to run it on that old machine anymore. Oh well.
People give away hardware capable of playing the game regularly. That GeForce 3 you thought was useless? It will play the game.
I have a GeForce2 somewhere, the problem is that the mainboard of that machine doesn't even have an AGP slot =_=
It's easier to buy a semi-decent machine nowadays, it's just that i like to use my PCs as long as possible (until they die)
Do you mean it starts loading but never finishes?
It does, just after half a minute or something. (timed it: ~20 secs until a black screnn appears, another 20 secs until the backround+ loading bar appears) I doubleclick the warzone shortcut, it starts loading (cpu load + hdd LED blinking) but takes much longer than the retail version. Might be because of the 128MB texture setting though (on the laptop). The loading times are the same whether i am in the variable CPU clock mode or fixed@max and nearly the same for the other PCs i have (one athlonXP 2k+, the other P4 1.5Ghz)

Specs:
C2D 7250@2Ghz
2GB DDR2-667
NVidia 8600m GT 512MB

Even on my crappy laptop (iBook G4, 1.3Ghz, 1.256GiB RAM) it only takes 20 seconds. On my desktop (Core 2) it is closer to 1-2.

However, on neither do I use .wz files. Could have something to do with it.

Regards, Freddie.

Well, i'm using the shortcuts the installer created for me, target fields for them are:
- the normal one: "C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe"
- the AIvolution one: "C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --mod aivolution.wz
- the GrimGFX one: "C:\Program Files\Warzone 2100\warzone2100.exe" --mod grim.wz

All 3 start equally fast/slow...

What do you mean by "not using .wz files"? How can do that to?

Unzip it.

For what it is worth, I don't see any real loss/gain by using .wz files over not using them.

Most of the time, as I mentioned, this is on intel or S3 chipsets, and their crappy drivers.

Did you set the texture size to 64 as per mentioned?

how?

Either via the ingame menu option, or if you can't get that, then edit the config file, and change it to:
textureSize=128
or textureSize=64
