i agree, and i always wondered why users don't always do that when they're taking screen shots just for the sake of showing off the game -- save the game just before you want to take the screen shot, and set FSAA and FSAF to max (16x-32x for most modern cards).  even if you're running at 1 fps, it doesn't matter, since you're not making a video.

also, take the screenshot at the resolution you want to present the image in (so don't take it at 1280x1024 and shrink it to 640x480 later -- set the game resolution to 640x480 in that case). widescreen is very good looking.

in the end, what i think would be awesome would be a screenshot button, and a quality screenshot button -- the second one would render the next frame (in software if necessary), with very high AA and AF and any other non-realtime-capable enhancements. of course, that operation could take several seconds, but it would be worth it.
