just asking...  why not use a gfx program and do up a few fade to grey frames and save it as a animated.gif.... or would that not work.
‎"to prepare for disaster is to invite it, to not prepare for disaster is a fools choice" -me (kim-lav_coyote25-metcalfe) - it used to be attributed to unknown - but adding the last bit , it now makes sense.

not work.

We would need a GIF reader. And some code to do the animation...

I think Hatsjoe's opinion to just use a simple image like currently is good.
Even the fadeout could be done, using GL.

Pseudocode:

Code: Select all

show_backdrop(credits.png);
sleep(123);
fade_backdrop(/* slope or timeout = */ 456);
exit();

Updated quit-screen

Post by Kreuvf »

Updated quit-screen. The scene in the background is taken from a Warzone 2120-promo-screenshot (this project has been stopped).

If you know some other 'big' sites that really need to be included.. tell me ;) or add it yourself ^^

definately looks better and neater than the old ones with tons of colorful icons...and it's more descriptive.
tasks postponed until the trunk is relatively stable again.

i think we're getting somewhere now. I really like kreuvf's version because of it's simplicity and informational side. although i think the background will get quite boring after a while. Terminator's version is also alot better than before. Maybe the placing of the different logo's is a bit crowded/wild/unpeaceful, but the overall impression is better than before.

using kreuvf's idea in combination with terminators idea should yield an excellent end screen. ;D

smaller logo's with the web locations would be the best way to go  imho. ;D

I think the Pumpkin link should just be dropped because that domain is now owned by one of those nasty domain collecting -> reselling companies.

And personally I'm in favor of removing the Eidos links and logo (not the Nexus logo, that one is cool!) as well. This since we're only advertising in that way while they don't provide anything for Warzone anymore.

The same probably aplies to the Pumpkin logo as well although they actually did more than just selling the game, they developed/started it, so might still deserve some credit.

Oh and Terminator: you might want to use PNG instead, since that is what the TRUNK revision of Warzone now uses (the 2.0 branch supports it as well if I'm not mistaken), also PNG is better quality (lossless).

the way i see it - without all those in the past - we wouldnt be here now.... keep the logos's but make them smaller... as a reminder of the history that we have all taken a part in.  ;D

keep the logo's but remove the eidos webiste and especially the pumkin studios one since that url is now owned by another company as stated before.

If we give credits to SDL, GL, AL and PhysFS, we might also want to consider giving credit to Xiph (Ogg, Vorbis), libpng and SDL_net. And at least Xiph has a nice logo. ;)

Warzone Link Turret, N.E.W.S.T. , Pumpkin-2 , Gamespy, Gamespy live , File PLanet.

No seriously, i would love to see one with just:

Warzone 2100 logo

Pumpkin Studios logo

Wz2100.net logo + URL

Open source logo (dunno which one it is)

EDIT: is there actually a wz2100.net logo cause in Terminators background the URL is the logo :d
