* Per:
* Pumpkin's statements regarding WZ's ongoing dev are in their BB's.
* My understanding from Bronco's recent post is that those BB's are still on Gamespy's server but are all busted & not available for public viewing.
* Anything you see in the source that didn't make the retail release or 10 official patches was simply planed for future releases that were cut short by Eidos.
* The only thing they publically stated that they were unhappy with and deactivated because they "looked ridiculous - hopping around" (like friskie rabbits) were the Jump Borgs.
* Also - there was something they really liked a lot and released but then some gamers whinned about it not being in the "spirit of WZ" (there was mention of "magic" as if that already didn't exit with "power" transfers without any "supply-line" mechanisms like say "umbilicals") so they reluctantly deactivated it in the following patch (the feature was called "Transformations" & I for one thought it was sweet & nano-based).
* Anyhow... there was definitely gonna be a WZ sequel, it was in the works before summer '99 & the WZ Enhancement BB i moderated for MPlayer/Pumpkin was a primary source for its dev, they just ran-out of time..
* But i'll tell you something that's not commonly known - when Pumpkin got word in the early Summer of '99 that Eidos was pulling the plug they switched most of their dev energies to creating the FPS Tactical engine called Firestorm which was used in later when they reformed as Pivotal and released the 1st of the "Conflict" franchise games - in other words while still Pumpkin they started working on their flagship Pivotal game. Talk about a resurection strategy beautifully executed - even to the point of swallowing up Eidos itself just a few years after being "let-go" !
