Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Jorzi, whether I mind or not does not even matter. This is your thing and you don't need my consent in any shape, form or way. All I do is make suggestions, you decide.
I am a fan of the current medium wheels anyway, so I say use what you made last and skip my sketch. I actually made it before I knew you had something new done. It was just my two cents on Goth's design, in case you'd go with it.

Mine was just a start (and yes, I use that word a lot
). My modelling skills are white-belt. Jorzi, ManGUS and the others are the art kings around here. Yours is great too, CP.

@Goth: white-belt maybe, but not without potential
@CP glad you like it
Started on the hi-poly, wheels and overall shape are done, still a lot of details to be done on the cover.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
That looks so cool! I guess the wheel guard is supposed to be a hollow upside-down U-shape, because else the front and rear wheels would hit it when the suspension is compressed and they move upwards.
I guess it would look even better if you made the end of the wheel guard bent down at the same angle as the wedge between the middle and rear wheel. Thus, it would symmetrically frame the wheel, giving the model a more balanced appearance.

Hmm.. good point. And yes, the wheel guard is hollow on the hipoy, while on the lowpoly the hollowed out parts will be black / very dark, giving a sense of depth. The wheels are moved out quite a bit to prevent overshadowing and intersection artifacts when baking. When in place they will be slightly covered by the wheel guard.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
actually , if you look at my favourite vehicle the LAV 25 coyote ( light armoured vehicle 25 mm bushmaster main gun ) it is a 8 wheel drive and very close in shape to what is displayed here.

@lav_coyote25 yes, partly inspired by that kind of vehicles
@Goth thanks

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Download my new mod!!!1!
It requires a recent build (master snapshot 20110519 is too old)
This is a preview mod of the graphical quality brought to you by the AR team.
Current models:
bunker buster, super/campaign transport replaced by my new medium transport, light tracks, light, medium & heavy hover.
Features:
-Normal mapping (object space)
-Specularity controlled by color texture
-Models now look as good ingame as my blender screengrabs.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
cool!
don't you think that tracks should be at least medium/dark gray but aren't white-gray as now?
also, can amount of the NM be controlled? in should be controlled in percents I think. Looks like you set it not enough.

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
@Mangust yeah, I'll make the tracks darker
But unfortunately the bumpyness factor can only be lowered I think, or maybe it could be increased if I can come up with a formula that multiplies the deviation from the base normal (hey, that could actually work, although it would probably result in artifacts along the face edges)
@Goth, lav-coyote: Thanks, did you try it out yet?
