Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
Now I'm not sure but when I look at this I think it is AWESOME.
I don't know how anyone could disagree?
... Is the red thing that you put a shutter on top of there an "Eye" or is that where the tracking beam thing Command Turrets fire at stuff comes from?
Hmmm....
I notice it looks like a personnel access hatch on top of the cylinder...
most units are unmanned droids...
do you really think these units come back in one piece often enough to run human maintenance on them?

Thank you Bolo42 and Carme Taika
The shutter thingy is supposed to be the laser, my idea is that the shutter acts as protection for the sensitive lens, and only opens when it fires
There has been some discussion as to whether the tanks are manned or unmanned. My personal vision is that at least some more valuable units are human controlled while others may have computer control installed.
This would mean that, for example, a professional human commander could be commanding multiple computerized units increasing effectiveness and making up for eventual problems in the AI.
(think of this every time you build a heap of commanders for cannon fodder just because they have the most armour

Re: Models by Jorzi (AR)
I always get the feeling that most RTS games only require one human... The controller of the over all force; you the PC.
If the scripted game 'AI' can act convincingly enough that some might think the commander units are supposed to contain humans, then i think it would not be much of a stretch to say that the Sci-fi AI in the reality Warzone 2100 creates could be good enough to be unmanned and merely directed to targets, just as they are in actual game play...

Add targeting, some sort of IFF, and you may eventually see reality being a Warzone simulator.Jorzi wrote:I think I should emphasize that Warzone 2100 was always supposed to be a game and not a reality simulator.

Pretty much finished, hard to come up with things to add anymore, maybe another gadget at the front panel...
The texture size right now is 512, will be resized to 256, lowpoly is 98 tris as stated before

The grey one is the hipoly, and the white one is lowpoly with texture which contains details from the hipoly(I think so).Carme Taika wrote:Sorry if I sound dumb, but what's the Difference between the Grey Mesh and the White Mesh?

Interesting. To my sensibility, has something of a Sci Fi Steampunk feel to it which I didn't get at all from the original even though I know the goal here is to adhere closely to the original's style. I never at all cared for the original Commander Turret (thought it sucked big time in overall conception, to be honest) but yours struck an appealing nerve because of the aforementioned association in my head - whether intended or not. Interesting. As the old engineering saw has it: God is in the details - & so is the bedeviling !

You did it once again, dude! That bevel below the vents on the rear really makes it look dynamic.Jorzi wrote:Pretty much finished, hard to come up with things to add anymore, maybe another gadget at the front panel...
