I'm deleting the Internet.
Re: I'm deleting the Internet.
You can kind of delete the recycle bin.
In the recycle bin option you say to delete files immediately (without going through the recycle bin).
Then you use something like tweakui (released by Microsoft) to remove the recycle bin from the desktop.
Files will be deleted without going through the recycle bin then.

With IE gone people will finally start using real browsers. Like Firefox.Serman wrote: >:( >:( >:( Any last words? >:( >:( >:(

eh. all browsers (and other software) that try to be "everything to everyone", or "great for novices and experts alike" tend to range anywhere from a pain in the... yeah, to being worthless to me. like firefox (or anything else mozilla) having no regex search capability that i've seen, among a long list of other things. of course i wouldn't expect anything even close out of internet explorer... since i don't expect anything out of internet explorermongoose wrote: With IE gone people will finally start using real browsers. Re: I'm deleting the Internet.
I expect the occasional scripting attack and trojan from it. Not that they have been a problem since my migration to linux.kage wrote:i don't expect anything out of internet explorer

Re: I'm deleting the Internet.

Re: I'm deleting the Internet.
Firefox 3 and IE 8 are in the works.kage wrote: eh. all browsers (and other software) that try to be "everything to everyone", or "great for novices and experts alike" tend to range anywhere from a pain in the... yeah, to being worthless to me. like firefox (or anything else mozilla) having no regex search capability that i've seen, among a long list of other things. of course i wouldn't expect anything even close out of internet explorer... since i don't expect anything out of internet explorer
Cross your fingers and hope that one of them will be able to do it then.

Re: I'm deleting the Internet.
Adding regex to Firefox would be an *extremely* easy task. Most of the UI is written in... you guessed it Java Script, which has regex functionality built-in. In the time it took you to write the message you could have probably implemented such a feature (assuming you knew which file to look in).kage wrote: eh. all browsers (and other software) that try to be "everything to everyone", or "great for novices and experts alike" tend to range anywhere from a pain in the... yeah, to being worthless to me. like firefox (or anything else mozilla) having no regex search capability that i've seen, among a long list of other things. of course i wouldn't expect anything even close out of internet explorer... since i don't expect anything out of internet explorer
Although I try to steer clear of the somewhat bloated Mozilla browsers (preferring Webkit based ones). Just a personal preference mind you.

"to prepare for disaster is to invite it, to not prepare for disaster is a fools choice" -me (kim-lav_coyote25-metcalfe) - it used to be attributed to unknown - but adding the last bit , it now makes sense.
Re: I'm deleting the Internet.
Right. I get it now, but are you saying that some other browser does?

If I'm not mistaken Lynx does.mongoose wrote: Right. I get it now, but are you saying that some other browser does?

Now THAT is a streamlined browser. Not one I'd normally use for web-surfing though.Giel wrote: If I'm not mistaken Lynx does.

Re: I'm deleting the Internet.
What kind of loser would use Lynx?
Re: I'm deleting the Internet.
i tend to prefer other console www's over lynx.
mine, though, is "what kind of loser would ever use nested tables?!"
you don't want to start that, because it inevitably follows with "what kind of loser would use IE, and by extension..."Serman wrote: What kind of loser would use Lynx?

Re: I'm deleting the Internet.
Whatever someone might be using doesn't make him a loser.
It will only annoy people and angry them.
Anyway the topic was about deleting the internet, not about who is a loser for using something.
I find this topic has turned into a flamebait.
