@Shadow Wolf - I'm finding too many discrepancies in the timeline though - the dates don't add up.

For example, http://guide.wz2100.net/story says:
printed timeline on original game box wrote: 2080: Synaptic link patented. First cyborg soldiers developed.

...

2085: During routine testing the NASDA system malfunctions and launches nuclear strikes against all major cities in the world. The target countries respond with nuclear counter strikes. NASDA fails to defend against incoming missiles.

2086: Nuclear Winter begins. Widespread plagues and famines kill billions of people. Civilization ends. NASDA systems lie dormant following electromagnetic pulses. A group of survivors discover an abandoned subterranean military base. They set up home there and begin The Project.
Which ties up with the date mentioned in https://warzone.atlassian.net/wiki/disp ... cript:
warzone intro video wrote: We fled Seattle in '86. We'd heard that the Rocky Mountains were relatively rad' free.
But https://warzone.atlassian.net/wiki/disp ... transcript says:
video in campaign 3 wrote: The Reed Corporation was founded by Dr. Alan Reed. In 2080, Dr. Reed landed a contract with the US Military to develop the Synaptic Link technology.

After patenting the Synaptic Link five years later [that's 2085], Dr. Reed continued his research in to cybernetics.

....

Backed again by the military Dr. Reed began work on the NEXUS Intruder Program. After three years [which would be 2088] with little progress, the military abandoned the programme and cut Dr. Reed's funding.
That in-game video is one of the most detailed bits of background info I've found so far, but it's at odds with other videos.

It feels a lot like Pumpkin never wrote down a timeline and they were just making stuff up as they went along, which is not great from a canon perspective. It makes me call in to question all dates in the timeline.

I'm going to keep going through the other videos in cam2 and cam3 to see what else I can find...

Hmm. Good eye. If that's the case, then there may very well be an inconsistency with the dates.

However, with so many sources claiming the start of the Collapse was in late 2085, and with the Project fleeing Seattle in 2086, I'm guessing that that in-game video source is the most contradictory of the bunch, and is therefore, the source that's most likely in need of correcting. Instead, perhaps they should've stated that Dr. Reed landed the contract with the US military in 2075, and patented it 5 years later (2080), or that he could've started development, and worked on it for 5 years, but landed the contract in 2080, at the same time where it was patented.

Yep, as I've said earlier it's probably better to move some dates earlier, but ~3 years periods should be enough, even only two for Nexus, since that could be enough to potentially judge that there are no real progress in development and maybe give additional year to let him finish it so it could start a Collapse (or we could assume that he hidden some work or was dismissed just before breakthrough). :-)

I wonder what the guys from Pumpkin would say if they knew how badly mangled the timeline is. Good luck with it, I think this is one thing I'm staying out of

I always thought that Project HQ was in the Rocky Mountains, based on the game's intro video stating "We fled Seattle ... heard Rockies were rad' free ... found the base...".

However, Rockies are surely in Northern Sector, especially according to this: https://warzone.atlassian.net/wiki/disp ... eliverance

That's further confirmed by the fact that the cam1 'fly splat' video shows gamma heading north form Project HQ:
https://warzone.atlassian.net/wiki/disp ... transcript

I don't know enough about USA geography - how big are the rockies? Could it be that NASDA is up in the northern sector and project HQ down in southern sector or something else?

I'm just trying to work out what's in each sector for this part of the wiki: https://warzone.atlassian.net/wiki/disp ... /Locations

The rocky mountains are HUGE. They span almost all of north america I believe (about 3,000 miles). Pretty much from New Mexico up into northern Canada. The base they are referring to is probably the NORAD complex in Cheyenne Mountain Colorado (also Cheyenne is in the rockies ;) )

Is there any information about the sectors in Warzone? Northern, Eastern, etc? What areas do they cover?

One thing I really want to try and achieve for the wiki is an interactive map showing which areas the sectors cover with pins for key locations, all linked to wiki pages with more information.

Giani, yes screenshot showing them was posted already in related topic (can't find it right now), but those dots merely shows directions, and except second campaign sector - Chicago it will be hard to find exact locations.

Team Alpha head to Arizona.

As for Team Gamma, still trying to determine exact location in Northern Sector that they go to.

Regarding the sectors, one thing I'm trying to work out is what regions they cover (not what city). Also, I've yet to unearth anything useful about the Southern Sector.

Hmm... I haven't gotten to that point yet, but would I be wrong to suggest that perhaps Gamma is sent to Washington or Oregon? Assuming Project HQ is in Colorado, Gamma being located over there strikes me as somewhat likely.

Also, perhaps push the leaving for the Rockies from 2086 to the 2090s, perhaps? Mind, I'll confess I'm just throwing out ideas, but I want to help if possible.

All help greatly appreciated Red!

The problem I'm having with the Sectors is that I don't know what would be deemed West USA, East USA, etc. West coast and East coast is easy to guess at to an extent, but how far inland is considered "west/east coast"?

In UK for example, where I live, I know that "the north" is considered everything north of Birmingham. But I have no idea what would be considered North of USA (the Northern Sector) because I don't live there.

With the Sectors being such a major aspect of "where things are" in the existing Campaigns, I'm really keen to try and work out what constitutes those sectors - what area of USA land mass do they cover?

As for dates, still a lot of digging to do on that front - I have yet to transcribe all the Cam 2 and Cam 3 videos, and I've not even started on reading through the txt and txa files in base/sequenceaudio yet, as they likely contain lots of additional infos.

I've been trying to document all audio/visual assets of the game to gather as much info as possible, but currently I'm side-tracked on some historic info gathering around things like EditWorld. Hopefully I'll be getting back to the media files again by the end of this week and that should unearth some additional information to work with.

East coast not sure.. same with west and the others, but Midwest seems to be anything from say Arkansas west until the Rockies I think. You may want to google for some of this. I think if you can find a wiki page defines what is included in the Midwest the rest should fall in place. Maybe...

I think the task really needs to be done by someone who lives in USA, because if I do it I'm just going to be confused by all the place names as I have no idea how to determine which information is right or wrong in my google results.

Well, depending for a given definition of "north", I reside in the Pacific Northwest - Northern California, Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, namely. Gamma could easily have been sent to either one of them, or perhaps even southwestern Canada.

Though I really need to finish the campaign, I've only gotten so far to the Beta mission where you kill the Collective commander.
