Re: New Unit Rank system!!! :D
Just a thought - would it make sense for commander units to have a different rank structure?
It seems a bit odd that it's possible to have a low ranked unit commanding a high ranked one.
This could maybe be resolved by introducing an "officer" system, allowing any officer to command any lower ranks.
This could probably be implemented in a number of different ways - one could be adding a "Commission" option to the game, where a unit with a certain minimum amount of experience could be converted to a commander.

Although your view does make sense in a way. I choose to side with Zarel's opinion on them being not about a sense of authority, but about a basic understanding of experience for an average gamer.LiSrt wrote:Just a thought - would it make sense for commander units to have a different rank structure?

Actually, a different rank system for commanders would make sense. The problem is that it would make it difficult to remember which commander rank corresponded to which rank.
I suppose we could just append "Commander" to the ranks. "Hero Commander". "Regular Commander". "Veteran Commander".

That would work well enough, and it does seem that commanders should get special ranks.

Especially the Void between the ears of people who think that No VTOL is a good idea, and won't lead to arty wars. I've won one, and I have to say: I hated it.

If you want some ideas in this regard I can provide a link to a couple hundred well thought-out & articulated ones from masters of the game circa 2004.
