Another turret design - this time a chemical turret.

Suitable for flamer, inferno (more radical barrel), plasmite, freeze, etc.

Untextured since my textures are mediocre ^_~

Somewhat high polys - can trim down significantly.

- - - - -

Also a prototype twin turret - designed for twinned weapon turrets. Next I'll be working on an assymetrical turret suitable for heavy-light combos.

This is Sniper Turret. He likes killing cyborgs.
I'll just leave this here

Oh, and there are 124 triangles on it.

Looking great as always Olrox (Thanks TheLion). ;)

The sniper rifle (intended for scavengers I take it?) will fit nicely upon the assymetrical turret I'm thinking of.

Actually I made this model and put it here much like when you throw a stone upwards and hopes that it hits someone xD

I mean, wolfbr (a new member) suggested some changes on another topic, one of them was a sniper turret. This would need to be balanced and tested yet, and the way he proposed it to be balanced was not good. Anyway, the idea of a direct-fire long range weapon seemed interesting to me, and a sniper turret design already came into my mind :P

So I've made the model to see if I'd manage to take any modder's attention
As I said on wolfbr's topic, I can send the model and texture to anyone interested: Just need the e-mail, by PM.

Thanks for the kind comments :c) My efforts are modest compared to those of some - but I am trying to find a niche where I can contribute without stepping upon fields where others are doing much better. ;)

Yes the chemical turret is my fave so far.

I didn't really like the twin turret so I am returning with an improved version of it - reconstructed of course :)

A twin rocket mount turret. Am considering modifying it further to permit the mini rockets to seamlessly install in the mid-front section.

I'd apply a couple of vertex welds at many points :D
I mean, there are many faces that won't be noticed when you put textures over the model. this kind of procedure can make a 100 poly model turn into a 50 poly one, and this, when multiplied by 30, 50, 100 units can make a really big difference!

Regards, Olrox ;)

Thanks for the advice Olrox. :)

The following is more or less the result - Went ahead with central-rocket compattability. ;) I figure that this can be adapted to both single rocket systems (including bunker buster) as well as twin rockets and missiles.

Ok - just a pause and a question, particularly for the devs.

I am in need of some guidance so based upon the things posted here in this thread what needs to get changed? Should I continue to treat this as little more than practice/ learning or should I focus upon something?

Well, when I started making models, I just kept making them, regardless if they would get ingame or not. They didn't even have textures, they weren't even .pies, they were too high-polygoned and I didn't have the slightest idea of how getting them ingame. But I kept making them and watching other people, asking for help. In those 2 years I've been participating of this forums, I've learnt a lot (not even close to enough, for me), and improved my skills, as Zarel noted somewhere else, drastically.

Today, I'm only able to get my works straight into the game, without the need of assembling the .wz or messing with game files, thanks to MaNGusT - who's really great at that! But to improve to what little I've managed to (because I'm such an ambitious person), I can't deny that I needed the help of many people here. Whip, Zarel, Coyote, Kage, Elio, to name a few. Without mentioning the coutless persons who gave precious feedback on my work.

I stopped making models at some times, thinking with myself "how can you think you get get this into the game and make people like it?". Fortunately, I kept coming back because of those people who appreciated my efforts. Recently, I've got some motivation to make some textures for a model I've offered Tiuz, for his gate mod. Then, I forced myself to learn making those darned textures, and imrpoved my skills very quickly (that's the best thing about being young ;) ).

Then, I saw MaNGusT's models, already ingame and working and a lot of people commenting, saying this or that. I didn't want to get into it and start posting my own work in his topic, so I just leaved it alone. Then, he said he'd like someone to help him with his textures, as he wasn't that good with them. I told myself "Why not give it a try?" :D Then I made some great textures, even though he was not good at it, he is good at knowing what needs to be done on them. Today we're considering about remaking almost every model inside the game, because the results so far are very promising!

Oh well, let me stop talking like some grandpa xD

Put simply, I think you should never give up. Make courses if you can, learn everything you can from people who already knows, and don't stop trying - that's a must if you want to accomplish anything! I can tell you that your work is very promising, but it can be much better. That's why you must not stop practicing and learning, if you do that, your work will stop improving.

I say, keep going on with the good work, and keep an ear open for what the experienced folks got to say. About those who would say "your work is crap", leave them with their craps and keep making something better and better everyday - but never stop making something ;)

Thank you for the kind advice Olrox. :) I had no intention on stopping modelling because you're right - practice does make perfect. Of course I wouldn't have been able to get far without tips from yourself and many of the individuals you mentioned, Xanax and Astorian.

Some have mentioned that I add too much geometry into my work - thats my next target - I'll probably go through the more recent models in this thread with the aim of cutting down on vertices and polies.

In the meantime here is a first concept for an assymetrical 'gun plus rocket' turret. The rocket part doesn't look like much because the rocket/ missile pod will be skewered upon the shaft, so I kept it simple.

Thanks again. ^_^
