OK then I misunderstood you.
Hmm, strange; I may have misinterpreted something. But then why would you suggest to change the new Angel Missile to be weaker than the old Angel Missile in every way?
To place things into perspective:

Current Angel Missile - Hp 50 - Dps 120s (41.3) - ROF 31.8 - Accuracy - 55-65% - Range 5–11
Alt. Missile Model 01 - Hp 50 - Dps 70s (??.?) - ROF 31.4 - Accuracy - 60-80% - Range 3–8.5 + Versatile (or 5-11 range minus versatile)

Differences: -50 Dps, -0.4 ROF +5%-+15% Accuracy, -2--2.5 Range + Versatile.

Obvious problems - versatile is not an option here and neither is homing as artillary. Overall weaker than current angel missile - defeating the purpose (yes you're right - its underpowered for the ANGEL missile)

You seem a little more interested in the rapid fire micro missiles concept.

(Chain Harness Arming Rapid Micro Missile) CHARM Missile - Hp 40 - Dps 30s (??.?) - ROF 75 - Accuracy - 60-85% - Range 5–11 - Artillary

Research Prerequisites: - Rapid Fire Chaingun Upgrade, Mini Rocket Artillary, Fast Fire Mini Rockets, Neural Research Synapse Brain (Placing this weapon a short ways before Angel Missile)

Leads to: CHARM Emplacement

Some find the mini rocket artillary to be attractive. Well the CHARM missile platform would rain down missiles steadily - mostly of concern to cyborgs and structures but able to inconvenience medium vehicles and damaged heavy vehicles. It is more of a tactical weapon however and works best with cover.

So, um, I don't get it. Minus versatile, it's not really any mechanically different from current Angel Missile. Just weaker.

Also, the damage is 120s, the DPS is 41.3. Your alternative would have a DPS of 29.3.

Interesting. DPS would be 28.1, so you'd probably want to double the damage. It'd annihilate cyborgs, but be a lot weaker against walls.

I concede that my alternative was too weak - especially for the stage ANGEL missile shows up (incidentally I do think it would be beneficial for 'missiles' to show up earlier (sufficiently earlier to place a couple more researches between Scourge-Angel-ArchAngel - even in the form of another stepping stone missile (have to think how that would work though).

Perhaps damage in the 40s then (trying to figure out what the number in brackets stands for), combined with a ROF matching the heavy machine gun - 85.7.

I am a little concerned about treading too deeply upon the assault gun's toes, though assault guns 'are' versatile and more durable.

I really like the ideas from the "Re-tooling Air Defense" thread in the "General discussion" forum. It would make these early AA defenses more diverse instead of being just a linear upgrade path.
