Posting links to illegal downloads is not permitted, remember. If you want the mp3s you just have to find them alone...

Such links are not allowed here, even we won't help somebody to find such links.
We all have the same heaven, but not the same horizon.

Re: where is the music?
I already grabbed 0.2.2. Seems like there is _a lot_ of stuff included we don't have in our SVN...
Tilesets (from NEWST, it seems), maps (lav_coyote25's marsmaps?), music (Neos).
I wonder what the exact licensing terms are, though...
If someone is in contact with the copyright holders of these, please speak up. (But I guess lav_coyote25 can speak for himself.
)
I'd like to have those files under the GPL (like the sourcecode, unity seems best) or CreativeCommons before I commit them to SVN. (Better safe than sorry...)

isnt it N.E.W.S.T > pumpkin2 > WRP anyway?
other then change of names is it not the same project, holding the same agreements?
(i dont know much bout copyright law, other than, its more often then not, quite evil)
im guessing your referring to the tracks from neos.
as the licence says;
"We protect your rights with two steps:
(1) copyright the software, and
(2) offer you this license which gives you legal permission to copy,
distribute and/or modify the software."
so an e-mail to schombert?
though i dont know french & so rely on the translation by firefox

Re: where is the music?
Sorry, overlooked your post.
What makes me courious about whether Neos' tracks are GPLed is that NEWST stuff was also included. And if I am not mistaken (and the readme is correct) NEWST was before GPLification of WZ, so I guess they didn't deal with FOSS licensing a lot...
If the license for the NEWST tilesets is unknown, I am not 100% trusting into Neos' music being GPL, either.
I'll write a mail on the weekend, asking him whether he gave his music under GPL, or would do so now. (If someone else does, please notify me/us.)
What worries me more is the NEWST stuff, since I don't have a clue who owns that.
If lav_coyote25 could say whether this are his maps and we get them under the GPL, I'd be happy.

Re: where is the music?
Let me clarify some things for you.
Anything NEWST is ca. 2000-2001. Rman Virgil was the President of NEWST so he will probably speak for NEWST in that regard.
The WRP is more of a development community than the old fan communities so in that sense things are much different here than they were before. And looking back on things there was no way we ever would've been prepared for the changes that came about when the source was released... we've come a long way (and I mean "we" in the collective WZ sense)...

Nope. NEWST was in a state of flux when one of its main members became compelled to be unavailable for a time. We all jumped ship to Pumpkin-2 where we resided until around the time of the source release. realtimestrategies.net (the brainchild of BLACKSABBATH) popped up in the mean-time. At that point pumpkin-2/rts.net was still more of a fan-community than a development community and waves of new people coming in after the source release (with vastly different goals/views/mentality/abilities than the fans) took the wheel and led us to where we are today.N.E.W.S.T > pumpkin2 > WRP anyway?

The best thing to do when your philosophies don't stand up to debate is to lock the thread and claim victory.

I also don't recall seeing anything from NEWST at all in any archive I seen? I think I read someplace (realtimestrategies.net ?) that they did 1.11 & 1.12 mods of the game that added stuff though. Thanks to Jonathan Clark for the track2.ogg menu music file, released
under public doman liscense.
Thanks to Neos (schombert.net) for the neos series of music, released under
the creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/2.0/deed.en liscense.
and it ends here.

They added landmines. It's in the wiki. Oh and I WANT LANDMINES!Buginator wrote: I think I read someplace (realtimestrategies.net ?) that they did 1.11 & 1.12 mods of the game that added stuff though.

Re: where is the music?
they added landmines through wz scripting... if they're popularly demanded, it'd be a lot cleaner and more efficient to implement them directly in the engine.

Re: where is the music?
* We started NEWST September 1999 with Pumpkin's explicit blessing & support (public & private).Chojun wrote: Let me clarify some things for you.

.........
.........
..........
* I got the "Dev CD" from Pumpkin right after Halloween '99.
* We also received essential information from former Pumpkin members that allowed the development and release of "WdgExplorer" & "PieSlicer".
* EVERYTHING NEWST released was implicitly "Creative Commons", that is, you were free to distro as long as you gave credit to the orginal creator AND DIDNOT ALTER the original & miss-represent it.
* NEWST also did likewise with our source - save that you were free to dev-change it.
* The only thing we didn't release was the unfinished sequel Campaign. (Fortunately we have the opportunity to redress that.)
* Besides all the tools, utilities, mods, maps, music, A.I.s, v.1.11 and v. 1.12 released we did try to maintain a certain standard of quality as well as formating for the sake of "ModSwitcher" which was later resdubed "WZ Starter" and provided, among many other things, the ability to use multiple a.i. personalities in a single SKI game.
* Btw, the granddaddy of Multiple Weap Turrets among many other innovattive GPMs & GFX was "Citadel Elite" which we deved Nov. '99 & released X-mas '99.
* Also - while v.1.12 did introduce "Land Mines" which took years to achieve (it 1st came up May '99 as a goal)... BUT it also has a ton of other major achievements embodied in it that merit resurrection.

Cool, where did you find that? In that archive? Perhaps I overlooked it...Buginator wrote: For what it is worth, this is what I have for the music:
Coyote: Problem is that I don't know what maps they are.
That readme only says:
RMan:mars3gorges - 8 player latest beta map - another experimentation with gateways...
marspyscho - almost done - needs a bit more texturing... maybe a few less wells
marscodao - long valley feature - ample resources if you can keep em
marsendgame - this map should look familiar to all who play warzone... just bigger is all...
marsnrglvalis - just sound it out phonetic... a bit tricky - watch for low flying vtols.
marsrelic - couldnt pass up this all too familiar dowlandscape - negative of the original.
Thanks! I get this as CC by-nd 3.0?
Chojun:
Thanks for the info. I think I should prepare a "history" page with that.

* I don't know what you've been told but there IS a substantial body of very high quality add-on content to WZ 2100 that cannot presently be played with the WRP ver. but runs perfectly under v.1.10.
* New fans to the WRP would be in for a treasure chest of content if that body of work were brought over.
* Just a thought.
