As mentioned in my own post, I don't want to get into specifics to early, but yes Kickstarter or something like that is my plan, once things move along far enough. I think "Oh I'll Kicsktarter that!" has become cliche, and often they fail, because people don't take something far enough first- the project needs to show all on it's own how awesome it is, be playable, be ready to amaze, and a true "vertical slice" of the game. This is what I am working toward, and that in itself is actually not extremely hard to achieve. Heck, could be done in a week if I had the time (I don't).
Where was I? Oh yes- awesome to see others also considering this, it's been banging around in the back of my mind, yammering for priority-focus, ever since I found this site. You can find some rather old posts of mine, to this effect
Building from an RTS kit or something is fine, but I generally prefer to work from scratch, so that I know exactly everything that is going on in the game. Unity is so easy to work with, it's really not as terrible a task as that might seem. Then again, if there is a full-functional kit out there already...why re-invent the wheel?
