How to get satellite view of Sk-StartUp?

Hi,

Does anyone have any ideas about how to get a satellite view of the Sk-StartUp map?

Specifically, I want an image (preferably quite large as I'll be zooming) showing the whole map looking directly from above, without any bases on, but showing terrain textures and features if possible.

It's for a scene in a video I'm working on:

I want to show a zoomed out satellite image of north america, then overlay a zoomed out satellite view of the Sk-StartUp map, then zoom in on the Sk-StartUp map to highlight locations, etc. All within the space of 4 seconds! But it's a key bit of the video so I want it to look swish.

I'll be putting a credits reel at the end of the video so if anyone can upload a satellite view of Sk-StartUp (and if it's the one that gets used) you'll have your name on what should hopefully turn out to be a pretty swish video (:

you might have to change game code if it will work maxdistance is the variable i forget what file maybe display.h set it to huge its 5000 i think atm and recompile it should give better zoom out

yeah, but he will fall in the fog. He'd need to change the fog code as well and then, the clipping code will stop him. Maybe he could try to increase that as well...

If its set to fog of war and not distant mist then use cheat deity bingo ..yes no?

No, i dont meant the fog of war, but the yellowish sand-like filter that appear when you look far way. If you dezoom too much you will just see an orange screen. He need turn it off.

I'm on a Mac, more specifically work's mac book, so can't install anything that could run FlaME :(

Hmmm... well one of our mappers can readily do it but take a look at an example at the furthest zoom-out (from there you can zoom-in to whatever works... you can angle tilt too. Plus you can post process whatever including a grid.) Communicating what will work best so someone else can get it just so may be too much. I dunno. I might try and build one in-game by max zoom-out and looking down, then take several screenies and stitch them together to get full map.

I've ditched the idea of having a sk-startup map zoom and come up with a cleaner-looking approach. Uploading new preview to youtube...

Use mono. Works well for me on linux.

The alternative, if you want a really huge image is to use the .bmp output from editworld (or get someone else to do it). After cropping the blue border off of the image, sk-startup ended up being 2561x5118 pixels at ~32MB (re-saved as a .png) :3
Every tile is seen from seemingly perfectly above, and if you fiddle, you can adjust the lighting too. Drop me a pm and an image size (dimensions) if you want, and I'll see what I can do.
