"to prepare for disaster is to invite it, to not prepare for disaster is a fools choice" -me (kim-lav_coyote25-metcalfe) - it used to be attributed to unknown - but adding the last bit , it now makes sense.

* Fear not - in a very real sense they haven't been wasted... by or on any age group.lav_coyote25 wrote:

* The Lego Metaphor has proven quite potent in the field of learning objects, open-source, oop & a whole new concept/market in custom DIY biz software spearheaded by http://www.coghead.com.
* Check it out - I kid you not, heh.
* Then of course there is Lego MindStorms NXT with Java Brains

Whimper...Mindstorm costs too much for my poor checkbook
I'll just have to stick to my poor-man's(free) Mindstorm, LDraw.

Re: Attack of the Legos
I made actually war more accurate looking Warzone 2100 stuff out of -real- legos years ago...I was that obsessed with the game. Me and my brother would have tabletop-ish games with them.
Ah, simpler times. ._.;

Re: Attack of the Legos
Yup, lego's are pretty much the only "toy" that makes people smarter...
Re: Attack of the Legos
Man, sometimes I wish I could still do that.
...well, technically, I can. I still have them. But man, I'm 18. Thats just pathetic...
...sometimes I think some people don't outgrow these things society just tells you "Your too old to do this!" and it convinces you sub-consciously.

Then society just doesn't know how to have fun:)
Granted, making somethings has lost it's appeal it's lots of fun to explore what can be built, how can it be built, and above all just making stuff because the a whim told you to
It's just another means of being creative. The "Your too old for that" line is just because Lego are attached to being a child's toy.
If playing with Logos is anything like playing with a baby's pacifier I'm not sure I want to be 'older'
(I am older then 18, btw. Just don't expect me to answer how much older )

Agreed, you're never too old to play with Lego. One of the only things I'm looking forward to when I have kids is playing with Lego with them.2_Late wrote: Then society just doesn't know how to have fun:)
