vehicles body names
vehicles body names
Body names are to hard to distinguish,
Could you please consider, changing those names in vehicle designer?
for example by adding prefix for current names, like LB for Light Body or naming them with the same name with suffix Mk 1/2/etc.
It would make it more readable i believe.

Don't let me think

Re: vehicles body names
That would mean change all the names of all the parts of all the vehicles, that would mean changing almost 90% of the names... Forget it, after playing for some time, you finally get used to the body names, each one has it's own features, so their actual names are really indentificative...
I don't think they are going to change the names like that...

Re: vehicles body names
Why? I'm asking for changes in design panel... In research panel there is class of the body mentioned... then why not in design?Saberuneko wrote:That would mean change all the names of all the parts of all the vehicles, that would mean changing almost 90% of the names...
But even so...
On the other hand i may just stop playing... Every software is for people, not for being for it's own purpose...Forget it, after playing for some time, you finally get used to the body names, each one has it's own features, so their actual names are really indentificative...
New version is upcoming so changes are welcome I believe.
Following that, even if it is needed to change 90% of names for sake of usability it is proper moment, and because usability is a target, it should be introduced as soon as possible, am I right?
And for players that are already used to old scheme... You managed to get used to current state, you'll easily get used to new simpler one

This way it is simplier.bober wrote:And for players that are already used to old scheme... You managed to get used to current state, you'll easily get used to new simpler one
"Panther" is better than "Medium Collective Body".
Everyone uses those names.
It won't be changed because of 1 person that has problems remembering names.
Re: vehicles body names
It could be done, I think... I'll have to look into it.
Can't you tell just by looking at the icons, though? o_O

That could be part of work on that "little-window-that-opens-when-you-right-click-on-a-research" ideaZarel wrote:It could be done, I think... I'll have to look into it.

anyway... for those who didn't understood... (didn't read, and wrote just for satisfaction of, etc. )
on research screen there is body class
http://img97.imageshack.us/i/zrzut49.jpg/ (on screen medium body cobra)
But on design screen there is no such thing...
http://img686.imageshack.us/i/zrzut50.jpg/ (only viper, should be light body viper)
Re: vehicles body names

Re: vehicles body names
4 factions (Project, New Paradigm, Collective, Nexus)
3 bodies per faction
12 bodies total
12 items are not that hard to memorize....
Especially since the bodies are "color coded" to what faction they belong to.
They are also "name coded"
All project bodies are named after snakes
All New Paradigm bodies are named after bugs/arthropods
All Collective bodies are named after large Cats
All Nexus bodies names refer to striking back at an enemy.
Besides if you were to give information about the bodies in the name, you'd have really long names and wouldn't save any time, just look at the states for each body when you click on it.
I forget if the design list sorts bodies by size or not...
If it is an orange body (named after a bug): It has good thermal armor (thermal armor = kinetic armor), is lightweight for a body of its size, and is the cheapest body of its size, it also has the least hitpoints and kinetic armor for its size.
If it is a grey body (named after a snake): quite simply, everything about it is average - although they do have the weakest thermal armor.
If it is a blue body (named after a cat): High kinetic armor, low engine output, high weight, high hitpoints for its size, somewhat expensive.
If it is a black body: The best (or tied for the best) body for its size in all catagories/statistics, except cost, these bodies are expensive, but 2nd to none.
