Hello Team,

I have this issue since a few weeks after I upgraded to 3v1.
The games starts to stutter. The sound seems to hang und most words are said twice.

I can hear this already in the menue, when this "beep-beep" sound comes for every click you do.
The 4 versions from the start of this thread have been tested, but none of them seems to change anything.

I also did a complete uninstall and a reinstallation (including OpenAL).

I then started to go back in version and found all of them having this problem more or less , but the oldest named
2.3 r504abc2 build jan 21 2011

Nevertheless before the issue coming up, the version
2.3.9 rc7112f7 build oct 24 2011
worked fine, now it doesn't.

The only way, to get it running smoothly I found, is to turn off sound completly -not really a solution.

For my experience it seems to be some patch für Windows XP.
By the way, here is my system config:
Intel P4 2.4GHz
1GB Ram
NVidia GF 7600 GS 256MB@400MHz (Driver Version 307.83)
Windows XP pro SP3 32bit (Patchrelease March 2013)

I would deliver framerates, but could someone explain to me, how to get the framerate during gameplay? I found no switch for it.
Other games, like MS Flightsim 2004 or Mechwarrior a.s.o are running w/o any issue.

Any suggestions but buying new hardware?

open config file in document/warzone 2100 <version> with wordpad / notepad++
make sure showFPS=1 as for low fps i'd suggest to go to video option, turn off shaders and fsaa, and lower texture size.

You get use to it :) I've been playing this way for a long time, for a boost of about 10fps. Now with the T4 build the game usually runs very smooth.

As Ezio said the next best thing is to turn off Shaders and Shadows. I did a quick search and couldn't find the shader model of that card, but IIRC v3 is recommended.
This is why some features aren't implemented: http://forums.wz2100.net/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=7490&view=unread#p87241

Hi again,

thanks for the hint to config file.
I turned on FPS and started in four ways:

I choose custom map "SK-Oasis-T1" as skirmish game with scav's with no prebuildings, only 2 trucks and textures at 512.

(A)
"D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\warzone2100_portableT4.exe" --nosound --noshadows --fullscreen --resolution=1024x768 --configdir="D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\Carsten"

Returns 60fps stable -I let the 2 trucks build oil rigs and the fps stays at 59 to 60

(B)
"D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\warzone2100_portableT4.exe" --sound --shadows --fullscreen --resolution=1024x768 --configdir="D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\Carsten"

The sound jitters and the fps lowers to 50fps to 55fps.

(C)
"D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\warzone2100_portableT4.exe" --sound --noshadows --fullscreen --resolution=1024x768 --configdir="D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\Carsten"

Sound jitter FPS 48 to 55.

(D)
"D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\warzone2100_portableT4.exe" --nosound --shadows --fullscreen --resolution=1024x768 --configdir="D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\Carsten"

Returns 54-58fps.

Sound seems to consume about up to 10FPS, while shadows only consume around 5FPS.
From my experiences in (B) and (C) the gameplay will start to stutter more and more as more units appear on each players side until it stucks completely.

This leads me into the fact, that it is somehow a sound issue.
Additionaly my sound driver:
Analog Devices, Inc. SoundMax Integrated Audio (onboard a DELL OptiPlex Desktop)
5.12.1.3538 (19.12.2002)
Hmm... 2002... pretty old, isn't it. I will look for an update.
[EDIT]
Nope. It is the most current from AD, indeed. No newer version available.
[/EDIT]

Ok,
another update from an ear smashing session:

I loaded the custom map 6c-NTW3vs3VerSS2.wz and played using this startup:
"D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\warzone2100_portableT4.exe" --fullscreen --sound --shadows --resolution=1024x768 --configdir="D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\Carsten"

At the beginning the sound stuttered as mentioned before. The framerate was around 45 to 55.

After some minutes -maybe 5 or 10; the sound went better and the gameplay slowed down to 30 to 40FPS -I believe because of the growing items and units.
The minimum FPS was at 10 to 15 when the North Team attacked the South Team (Skirmish Play with bots) at their grounds with over 200 units.

During this attack the sound suddenly went worse and started repeating the sibble "str..." from "Structure under attack" I guess.
I muted the headset because of this. The gameplay was not interruppted and the units moved smoothly w/o hanging.

After finishing the game I unmuted and the sound was still there "str.str.str.str.str." a-s-o.
It stopped after I ended the program (Warzone) completely.

I wonder if this is something other user have, too?

I have only the onboard sound card. No "external" or so -well still got some ISA sound blaster 16 Card in my storage, but damn, this modern DELL has no slot for testing it. :lol2:

Returns 60fps stable
Please disable vsync, otherwise these numbers don't make much sense.
Please make a clean experiment (same game state, no JS AIs such as NullBot), eg. by using the test maps above.

Hello,

I have made another test with this configuration:

Code: Select all

[General]
voicevol=50
fxvol=0
cdvol=0
music_enabled=false
width=1174
height=918
bpp=32
fullscreen=false
language=
difficulty=0
showFPS=1
scroll=800
shake=0
mouseflip=1
nomousewarp=0
RightClickOrders=0
MiddleClickRotate=0
shadows=0
sound=1
FMVmode=0
scanlines=1
subtitles=1
radarObjectMode=1
radarTerrainMode=1
trapCursor=false
vsync=false
shaders=1
textureSize=512
FSAA=0
UPnP=0
rotateRadar=true
PauseOnFocusLoss=false
masterserver_name=lobby.wz2100.net
masterserver_port=9990
gameserver_port=2100
colour=0
colourMP=0
mapName=NTW3vs3VerSS2-T1
mapHash=42e43cd55987e658ad2f78ffe445f5060839ec2834685f48a74ce04a8f3040ef
maxPlayers=6
power=400
base=0
alliance=2
playerName=Carsten
Call:
"D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\warzone2100_portableT4.exe" --window --sound --noshadows --resolution=1174x918 --configdir="D:\Warzone 2100-3.1.0\Carsten"

All AIs where set as "Nexus".
In the beginning the FPS went up to 80 and slowed down to 40 - 50 a few minutes later.
The sound was stuttering.
After 10 to 15 minutes the sound was smooth and clear.
Again in the end phase the soud stuttered again.
The framerate went down to 12FPS (+/- 5 FPS) but graphic was smooth and did not hang.
The sound stopped again repeading one sibble from the last sentence.
The last 30 minutes I played with headset muted again and the noise stopped, when I exit "Warzone" completely.

Only 7 votes out of 20+ downloads ?

Does that mean people are not noticing anything different between versions ?

Well, some people clearly are (?)

- Win XP
- 3GB RAM
- 50+GB disk space left
- Dual core AMD cpu
- Gateway computer

Are people with more than one CPU core having trouble with speed issues? Because I have an AMD dual core CPU, and I never had problems with 3.0RC1. But now I have the full 3.1(?) game (comes after RC1) I have occasional problems, even when a map first starts sometimes.

Rebooting my PC usually works, as I leave it on for weeks at a time going in and out of sleep mode.
