Lag
Re: Lag
I've recently switched from 3.1 RC 3 to 3.1.0 and 3.1.0 is definitely *much* more laggy. Maybe something to do with AIs shooting at features again?

Re: Lag
I've made test map for testing FPS
1) Open warzone
2) Select scrimish mode and select test map
3) Set 2 players at poisition 0 and 5 with Nexus AI
all another player shold be disabled (closed)
4) Set full bases
5) run game
6) Press Enter and print 'showfps' to see FPS
note: on slow PC you game will be totally lagged and unplayable
my results
version 3.1.0: 6-7 FPS
version beta RC3: 17-22 fps
game settings: texture:256, shadows:off
update: tested on bugfixes build '17-Feb-2013' with same texture and resolutions settings
FPS is better in bugfixes build(!!)
version bugfixes from 17-Feb-2013: 22-30 FPS
To run test:1) Open warzone

Re: Lag
You should learn how to build master and test there. That is the current state, and showing where the game is heading.
But all in all: if you are playing NTW style, you will always have more lag than low-oil gamers. More units = more data to transfer, more computations = more lag.

Re: Lag
1) i cannot build master in release mode (something broken)raycast wrote:You should learn how to build master and test there. That is the current state, and showing where the game is heading.
in debug mose program works slower so i cannot use results from debug mode here.
(got 5 fps in master version in debug mode)
2) master version is broken for windows build now
3) head version is bugfixes and 3.1 branches.
we testing 3.1 version, not 3.2
*i know how build master and make patches
this sentention actually does not related to topic of this thread.raycast wrote: But all in all: if you are playing NTW style, you will always have more lag than low-oil gamers. More units = more data to transfer, more computations = more lag.
players with slow PC get lags even in low oil games!
did you meant i should test FPS on low-oil game style? well i can find slow PC and get same results
Re: Lag
I could not reproduce the fps decrease in different versions, so it might be something hardware- or os-specific.

Re: Lag
Game have 60 fps by default. so you see 60 FPS on any warzone version. No difference.Originway wrote:what do you mean? yes tried lan multiplayer and skirmish games
But if you have slow PC then FPS should be different, depending on number and activity of game objects.
e.g. you can play 1vs1 games with no problems but in 5vs5 game you get lags.
Version 3.1.0 produces more lags than beta RC3.
- it was noticed by some players
- my test proves it at least on windows. i hope someone will try to do same testing as me. NoQ tried it, and at his system all warzone versions had same FPS.
Re: Lag
Problem is not lags. Problem - increased lags in 3.1.0 without any graphical improvements. This touch slow machines more than fast machines.Originway wrote:you are saying the problem is only for slow machines then?
Anyway, in my tests this problem looks like fixed in futher 3.1.1 version.

Many players like to play games called 'high-oil'
on such settings even fact machine can lag.
Devs say "we not support high-oil", but people like it.
Re: Lag
where do you see 3.1.1? I was looking for next version and I don't see anything on roadmap?Reg312 wrote:Problem is not lags. Problem - increased lags in 3.1.0 without any graphical improvements. Re: Lag
are you looking at https://github.com/Warzone2100/warzone2 ... s/bugfixes? are we sure that will be 3.1.1?
Re: Lag
version 3.2 (master branch) is more unstable and is not ready for release i think.Originway wrote:are you looking at https://github.com/Warzone2100/warzone2 ... s/bugfixes? are we sure that will be 3.1.1?
so next one should be 3.1.1
Re: Lag
bugfixes branch won't be 3.1.1.
3.1 branch will be 3.1.1.
3.1 branch will be 3.1.1.
