Missing Videos

Hey all,

I've started this new topic on account of my feelings regarding the missing videos, the game just does not feel right to me.
So if its cool with everybody I thought I might have a crack at converting / re-animating the Command briefing videos.

I'm thinking that if we at least have the videos playable and we cant distribute them for legal reasons.
We at least have a bit of inspiration with which to create our own.

Does anybody have the original video files?
Can anybody tell me much about the format they're in?
Are they a vector or a raster format?

Hi, the FMVs are all using a custom codec (RPL).  There is a rpl player (called Escape) that can be found on some sites.  The videos can also be found the same way.  No direct links are allowed for obvious reasons.
They are all raster based.

There are many posts about this (rpl converting/whatever) in other forum sections.

It would be great if you can redo them, since they do contain some nice info that we do not have, and just brings a better experience to the SP game.

There is ogg/theora playback code, and so the FMVs should use that codec also.

Yeah, I can't play the SP missions knowing what I'm missing...

I still can't believe the videos were not released. It doesn't make any sense that they were not.

I can understand the format that thier in being proprietary, but the actual image frames contained within the format... come on, I still don't buy that...

That's like buying a new car and haveing the dealorship syphen out all the gas and drain the oil...

Well, yes, it will/does do that, *IF* you have the patch that enabled FMV support.
It isn't in the beta/trunk right now, since... well...  :-X

oooo hmm Yea we should do this.....hmm anyway to get an avi 2 work with it....hmm welll all i remember in some of the misson briefings are the maps to the current misson...anyone have the orginal maps in a jpg or somethin with the desinated objectives....and it would be awesome if the original subtext was there 2....
