I'm so excited I can't wait for PR feedback. Please try them out and say what you think!
First feature: New mouse rotation logic
This is really hard to explain but the mouse movement is now just so much smoother and more in line with what a modern game should feel like.
I also have a number of other things to work on, including better zoom (already have a PR for it, but an even better one), better arrow key navigation, and better mouse "navigation" in lack of a better word.
Please download the binaries and try it out: Windows PR (for linux builds etc)
Second feature: Variation of oil derrick animation
This one's annoyed me for a long time - seeing a number of oil derricks tugging along at different paces really is soothing

Update:
The rotational logic has been reworked to properly support the "wrapping of turns" eg. rotating between 350 degrees to 10 degrees.

Now, the oil derricks will also start at varying times when having been stopped by a lack of power plants!
